Anoka County Commissioner District 7

County commissioners are the county s key policymakers. They oversee the administration of the county, set county budget, and participate in county long-range planning. County services that they oversee include a wide variety of social service and welfare programs, as well as certain public health programs. - Support for Seniors and Families: Our seniors deserve accessible services and affordable housing to live with dignity. I'll advocate for increased funding for elder services, such as transportation & housing, & work to enhance community resources for families.

- Sustainable Development & Infrastructure: I’m committed to safe, sustainable growth, which includes expanding transit options like Bus Rapid Transit, improving park maintenance, & investing in infrastructure that promotes accessibility and environmental stewardship.

- Transparency in Government: I am committed to open government that all residents feel empowered to participate in. Our government is for the people by the people. It should be a place of full transparency.
To protect voting rights while ensuring election security, I support clear, accessible election laws that do not restrict or limit voter access. This includes increasing voter education, offering language assistance, and making early voting options widely available. Election security is strengthened through verifiable audits and maintaining secure, updated voting systems. My goal is to protect Minnesotans’ right to vote freely and easily, while upholding election integrity and security.
The biggest challenge to mental health & social services is access. Many residents face long wait times for appointments, limited transportation to service providers, and high costs. Additionally, there is a shortage of mental health professionals, which strains the system further. To address these issues, I would work to increase county funding for mental health services, expand telehealth options, & partner with community organizations to create accessible, low cost programs.
As Chair of the Management Committee, I am actively working to provide an inclusive work environment with competitive pay for our 2,200 employees and advance good-paying trade professions in Anoka County to ensure a robust, skilled workforce for the future. As chair of the Human Services Committee, I’m dedicated to combating the opioid crisis and enhancing mental health services. Community development is the cornerstone of a thriving county. My focus has been maintaining safe and functional infrastructure, including roads, trails, and parks; expanding broadband connectivity to ensure all residents have access; and practicing open dialogue and engagement with our diverse communities to ensure every voice is heard and valued.
The state of MN has one of the most rigorous election security protocols in the nation. Counties are mandated by the state to perform secure and accessible voting. I share the information residents need to know about voting and our Elections Office implements the laws passed by the state and federal governments. I advocate on behalf of my district to ensure legislation can be appropriately implemented without causing barriers to access and then focus on educating residents on how to navigate ch
We need to enhance mental health services by integrating them into corrections programs for better support and expand street outreach social workers to offer vital assistance for people in need. We need to combat the opioid crisis through effective policy, resource allocation, and public awareness. Anoka County residents deserve to have a dedicated response to the opioid epidemic to save lives and help people recover with compassion. I am fighting to ensure Anoka County receives proper funding.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
