Unsheltered homeless: Compassionate, coordinated unsheltered response that is Housing First modeled; funds culturally specific providers; deeply affordable, low-barrier housing; builds intentional shelter space

Environmental injustice in East Phillips: Improve health outcomes and promote environmental justice for our most diverse communities of 62B and across the district, and continue to support the East Phillips Urban Farm community vision.

Long term, economic revitalization east of I35W: The Lake Street Revitalization program was critical for rebuilding after the George Floyd uprising. Our cultural and commercial corridors are in need of long term, sustained programs to increase access to jobs, capital, and affordable housing.
When we are in such a dire housing crisis, and all Minnesotans need access to housing, one of the best ways we can offset the impacts of inflation is by making sure we are spurring affordable housing investment, increasing first-time homebuyer programs, and bring housing costs down. Supporting our small businesses and emerging entrepreneurs with resources, grants, and consulting resources are amazing ways to lift up small biz, new owners, and diverse communities. We can leverage MN-DEED in this.
Healthcare is one of the areas where disparities are felt most. As someone who comes from healthcare, I want to strongly advocate for a single payer, universal healthcare that provides equal, equitable coverage to all Minnesotans regardless of race, background, gender, or wealth. I want to support ongoing efforts in the legislature to get this done. I was the State Planning Director for MNSURE during the roll-out of the ACA; we have so much more work to do to address disparities in health.
I want to fully leverage the Inflation Reduction Act to shrink our carbon footprint and aggressively reach our state and local climate action goals, including through partnership with the City of Minneapolis to implement their Climate Equity Plan, which sets goals to significantly reduce pollution by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2050. We need to continue to invest in clean energy alternatives and support net-zero development and car electrification across MN. We need to protect the BWCA.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
