I am the best candidate for this position because I am a current ENM city council member and I genuinely care about the community I serve.
Responsible growth. While continued growth is vital to our future, maintaining the small-town culture is equally as important to current residents, and those who would consider moving to, or opening a business in the city. Fiscal responsibility. We need to be responsible with our resident's tax and utility dollars to minimize rates and tax increases. Improving transparency. It is important for our city to operate in an open and transparent manner, allowing for public scrutiny and oversight.
I am and will continue to make myself available to residents in our community through a variety of digital and in person mechanisms, I will meet people where they are at. I am also committed to cultivating trust through transparency and genuine communication. I will listen to understand with an open mind and will represent everyone equally in our diverse community.
I will work to engage citizens in a variety of ways, from social media to in-person conversations. I will be pro-active in keeping our community members informed and I will prioritize clarity and use layman's terms in communications for understanding.

Elko New Market deserves a fresh voice with not only creative ideas, but the time and passion to follow through. I have a proven track record of investing in my community and the energy & relationships to listen first, and next lead & deliver. I have noticed a serious need for our city government to build back trust with residents and function more proactively. Local government is often the most impactful on people's lives and I have the time, relationships, and dedication to go above and beyond and actively serve the community I love.

My top priorities, and priorities that are also shared by many as I have been out connecting with neighbors at their doors, are: creating more opportunities for enhanced community collaboration, building back trust with residents through increased transparency and accountability measures, and advancing responsible business & residential growth that doesn’t sacrifice our small town culture. I aim to implement transparency strategies so we can build back trust and move forward together.
Since announcing my candidacy, I have made it a point to meet residents directly where they are at by knocking on their doors. These conversations have been enlightening and encouraging! I plan to implement council member office hours and “coffee with the council member” initiatives to ensure transparency is top of mind, and encourage civic engagement in more diverse ways. Additionally, I will continue knocking on doors in off-election years to keep communication flowing.
In order for city government to be accessible, city council members have to be proactive in ensuring they are reachable and responsive. I have proven that transparency and accountability are core values of mine by getting out into the community and meeting our residents where they’re at. I intend to keep up this level of energy and if elected, prioritize initiatives that allow for more voices to be heard earlier in our city’s planning process.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
