I'm running for Lonsdale city council, because I grew up here and I take pride in my community. I will work to make the community better as a whole while keeping that small town feel. Being from the area I know a lot of the history of Lonsdale. Which will give me insight into why some things were done the way they were and what has worked or has not worked in the past. I will also be open to new ideas and out of the box thinking. I believe everyone's opinions need to be heard. I will take the time to listen to the citizens of this great town and take the issues they hold dear into consideration when coming to decisions for the town as a whole. Most of all I realize it would be a privilege and honor to represent the citizens of Lonsdale.
A more transparent and interactive government. Let the people of town know what is going on at the meetings and online to gather input before voting on big decisions. Make sure our city employees are compensated fairly compared to similar positions in the area and have the resources they need to do their jobs. More diversified ways to fund special projects in town. It doesn’t all have to fall on the taxpayers to happen. There are grants, crowd sourcing, private donations and fundraising.
I plan to interact with my constituents through a variety of sources. The first and most important reason being actually taking the time to talk and listen to people. No matter what their views or opinions they deserve to be heard. Seeing it through their eyes will give me an insight into why they feel the way they do. I may even learn something new. I will also interact through my Facebook page www.facebook.com/james.vosejpka.for.lonsdale.city.council and the local happening's sites.
I will make frequent updates to my candidate Facebook page. Discussing what we will be talking about at the upcoming meeting. As well as an after-meeting highlight post. Encourage people to attend the meetings in person to see what is actually happening for themselves. I will also encourage people to check out the Official City website lonsdalemn.com to stay up to date on current events going on in the local government. There is even an option to sign up for mass notifications.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
