I am currently the President of the Rothsay Areawide EDA and serve the community as Treasurer of the Rothsay Lions, both experiences continue to provide me with an understanding of the current issues facing the community. I am ready to hit the ground running, having attended nearly all of the City Council meetings over the last two years. My professional experience in both a non-profit organization and government give me a varied background from which to pull unique, out-of-the-box ideas from to try to address the most pressing issues facing Rothsay. I am able to commit the necessary time and energy to City Council and am willing to serve the citizens of Rothsay to better our community.
Rothsay has many needs, including urgent infrastructure improvements, that will require thoughtful, but conservative budgeting. Facilitating those changes, will require long-term planning so improvements can be financed over many years using various funding sources. Additionally, a focus on transparency and community involvement is imperative to an engaged and productive community that thrives.
I welcome communications with anyone, either in person, via phone or email, who has ideas on how to better the community. Not everyone will always agree and part of representing the community is listening to all perspectives and asking questions to gain a clear picture of an issue so that those representing the community can make the best decision possible for the betterment of all.
The City needs to continue to update and maintain their website and social media. I would encourage the continued growth in this area and sharing of public information anywhere that would be useful. I would also encourage the council to hold town hall meetings and be as transparent as possible, whenever possible, as well. I also believe that sharing the "why" behind decisions is also invaluable in increasing understanding regarding difficult or unpopular decisions.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
