I believe my experience, education, and involvement in St. Michael make me the best candidate for this position. For 12 years, I was a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission before running for and being elected to the City Council four years ago. These roles have have given me extensive experience with the city and have given me the knowledge and background to help make informed, fair, and balanced decisions. While I live in one of St. Michael's great subdivisions, I am also the proud owner of a family farm which gives me a unique perspective on many issues. During my four years of college, I completed a double major in Finance & Management with a minor in Economics which allows me to play a key role in budget and tax discussions.
First, I will prioritize the continued safety and strong public services offered in St. Michael. We have increased funding and hours for our public safety departments over the last four years and will continue to support these key areas. Second, I will continue to be a leader in driving value for your tax dollars. We have reduced the city's tax rate each of the last four years and will continue to work to minimize additional tax burden. Finally, I will be working to ensure responsible growth.
I value and appreciate feedback from all members of our community. I have established relationships with a large number of our residents through my time coaching more than 50 youth athletic teams. I have met with and visited many of our local businesses as a member of both the City Council and our Economic Development Authority. I have established strong relationships with our outstanding city staff, school district, and other local organizations. I will continue to welcome feedback from all.
We will continue to offer open forums and information sessions for significant decisions being considered in order to maximize citizen input and awareness. We will continue to look for ways to expand and improve communication through the use of city Newsletters, social media, and our City's website. I will continue to encourage interested community members to participate in committees, open forums, and public comment sessions. I will remain available for questions and discussion with residents.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
