I am the best candidate for mayor because of my passion for this community. I am the most qualified with 36 years of community leadership experience.

My family has lived here since 1993. Our 3 children were raised and educated here. I worked in this community for 11 years as the community education director. My wife works in Waconia.

Service to the community is a core belief of mine. I am customer centric. My resume speaks clearly to connecting and growing community. One of my clients refers to me as an instigator of goodwill.

My resume speaks to innovation, collaboration with boards and councils, being budget smart and making positive things happen.

I am a servant leader and ready to be your next Mayor of Waconia. Thank you.
Here are the items I hear most often when going door to door and visiting with community residents.

Property taxes are too high. High taxes are driving our senior citizens out of their homes. Our city property taxes went up 14% two years ago and 10% a year ago.

Infrastructure. Roads, trails, and recreation amenities. All need greater investment and maintenance.

Communication. City communication needs to improve so that our citizens trust and have faith in this great city.
Being an ethical hard-working leader is at my core and it has been my entire life. Honesty, clear communication, gratefulness, and a do the right thing mentality for customers and the community has driven my path.

I was the executive director and leader for Minnetonka Community Education for 20 years until mid-August. I took that program to a top national ranking in 2023 and again in 2024.

A successful strategy for a good leader is to have an open door, an open mind, and to listen first.
I will engage residents through an annual two-question survey, focusing on customer service by the city and overall impressions of Waconia, rated on a scale of 1-5. Additionally, I'll foster open dialogue through posts, community open mics at city council meetings, and by occasionally holding meetings outside of city hall. My goal is to ensure greater visibility and accessibility within the community, going beyond the current mayor’s efforts. My door is always open to the community.
Carver County Sheriffs is our public safety contractor. They are an excellent organization and do a great job for this community and for all of Carver County.

Their staffing levels have not rebounded since 2020. This is not good news for any of us. It is incumbent upon each of us to be positive and grateful when we interact with these fine men and women.

We need to call out the dangerous defund the police movement. We need to encourage young adults to consider a law enforcement career.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
