I am seeking a position on the school board because I believe in strong, vibrant communities. I get the privilege of working with young people on a regular basis and know that the folks who grow up in small towns are the folks who will be leaders in small towns. In my role as an Interim Pastor I lead organizations though times of turmoil and change helping them to realize their assets. I also have a trackrecord of helping seemingly opposed parties reach a common solution where everyone is satisfied. I have led national organizations where I helped establish norm and processess allowing them to trive and lead in times of change and upheaval.
1: dealing with the continued threat of violence to the students, faculty, and staff of district 840. We need to equip our young people to find ways to be in community with one another, show one another respect and dignity, and resolve conflicts in ways that do not result in threats of violence. 2: Preserving the freedom of teachers to teach, and maintain academic integrity and rigor in the classroom. 3: Ensuring accessability for students particularlly those experiancing a language barrier
I want the district’s employees and students to have the resources they need. I want to ensure that we are running programs effeciently and I belive that staff and educational programing should be the last things to face cuts in the district.
On the surface I want to elemintae any language barriers for students testing. I also was the vice president of the organization White Lutherans for Racial Justice which sought to equip white folks in the ELCA to be activly anti-racist. I will work with stakeholders to ensure that we are moving towards being activly anti-racist. The universal free breakfast and lunch program are a step in reducing economic disparities. The focus needs to promote equity in the classroom and social enviroment.
The role of the schoolboard is to get the recources needed into the hands of those educating in the best and most effective way possible. I want to be in conversation with teachers, families, and community stakeholders so that we can all better understand how we are being tasked with laying the foundation for the world we want to live in tomorrow.

The board cannot make effective decisions without the buy in from those impacted.. I am comitted to hearing the members of this community.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
