As a volunteer and substitute teacher, I've gained a different perspective and with my passion to serve the schools and community I know I will make a difference in ensuring students, teachers, and staff are supported so that no student is left behind. I believe there is room at the table for all the school board members with differing strategies and belief's to come together, listening to each idea, but ultimately finding the best solution for our schools and leading as one body. I have no agenda other than to serve this community and it's students, to help the school board continue to move forward, so that as our mission states, every student, every day receives a great education, providing them with a strong foundation for their future.
My first priority will be to continue to support the implementation of the Strategic Plan as it is the best way forward in creating a strong district while ensuring the best for our students. My second priority will be supporting best decisions so that our district is living up to the mission of every student, every day. My third priority is making sure we maintain a balanced budget. Without it our students suffer.
My strategy would be to work with the state of Minnesota on ways to fix the imbalance of our current school district funding. I would also look for more cost effective ways to support the day to day running of the buildings that still ensures a safe and comfortable environment for the students. I would search for bonds that would help support our district.
I had the honor of helping rewrite the districts mission statement recently and in it, it states, Every Student, Every Day. It is of vital importance to me that all our students no matter their race or economic background receive the best education and a solid foundation for their future. If there are disparities its important to acknowledge them and rectify any situations that arise immediately and build the right environment so that this doesn't happen in the future.
While not everyone will agree with all the decisions being made it's important that we allow all voices to be heard and weigh thoughts and ideas brought to us from those who are most impacted by decisions. Its important to communicate effectively and be transparent with decisions being made while gathering data through open forums, parent panels, newsletters, emails, phone calls, and surveys.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
