I came to Crosslake for the first time the Bicentennial 4th of July weekend in 1976. I found the town very welcoming, fun, and full of good people. The campground was full, so Saturday July 3rd, I bought my first little cabin at age 21. As time went by I ended up moving to Denver to manage a new private investigation office. A short time after that I bought the business and had offices in Denver, Minneapolis, and Las Vegas. My heart was in Crosslake and I built a second home on the lake. Local friends adopted me as Colorado Bob, then just C. Bob. I have supported this community with charity golf tournaments, 13 years on the St. Patrick's Parade Committee, and more than 3 years as Chairman of the Public Safety Commission. I love Crosslake!
Crosslake is fortunate to have one of the best Public Safety teams in the area. I am proud of our Police Dept, Fire Dept, and EMS services. We need to maintain that high level.

I know fiscal responsibility is a term used by many candidates. We all have a duty to keep spending within reason and stay within budgets.

I want to support our businesses which I believe are the backbone of our community. Most have just 3 or 4 months to get the majority of their business for the year. Buy local!
I will always be open to hear from community members, many who I already know one way or the other. Some for decades and some for just a few weeks. There are typically two or more sides to every issue. I want to hear from people to know their concerns and use common sense to come to difficult decisions in the best interest of Crosslake. I want to work with our commissions, other council members, and city staff to make informed decisions.
I encourage all community members to attend council meetings periodically, and especially when items are discussed you have special interest in. We need to know your opinions during open forums. Almost all of our commission meetings are also open to the public. I will not tolerate any hidden agendas. We need expenditures to stay within approved budgets. Open communication with community members and city staff is paramount.

I will ask the tough questions, I will hold people accountable and I will listen to the people of Crosslake and make sure your voice is heard. Serving on a previous city council I understand the inner workings of city government and required dedication. I will work for the people!
1. Foster and build healthy relationships with our city employees/staff. For far too long, the ongoing struggle with the relationships between leadership, employees and council needs to be fixed. 2. Maintain fiscal responsibility of our spending. I will be mindful and accountable of how we are spending your tax dollars. 3. Continue supporting our Parks and Recreation master plan. We have a great park system here in Crosslake with a lot of interest in expanding/updating our recreational areas.
I will have a presence in our community and be an active member. We are a vacationing and recreational community that has several thousand visitors each year to enjoy our lakes area, it is important that our local residents and business owners know who presents them at the council level.
I will engage and promote the use of technology to ensure that meetings are broadcast live for the people and documents are readily available electronically. I will ask for regular updates from city staff on how things are going. And I will also ask those tough questions and hold people accountable.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
