Breezy Point City Council Member {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

As local legislators who sometimes have executive power, council members can propose ordinances, set administrative policy, and authorize the budget proposed by the mayor. They oversee all city activities, including city services, programs, licensing, and public safety. Mayoral appointments to city government typically require council approval.Voting in local elections is important - learn more here: Why Vote for City Council

During my 20 plus year career as an IT Services Manager, I spent most of my time managing problems and incidents for my clients. This meant I had to bring together large disparate groups consisting of clients, suppliers, technical and executive level management to broker agreements or resolutions that were acceptable to all. I was known for my diligence, attention to detail and creative problem solving. I think this background will be very helpful as a member of the city council.
Taxes/Budget Fiscal Responsibility Transparency
There are many ways to engage with community members and I plan on being visible and available to the residents of Breezy Point. I will be concentrating on asking for input and engaging in conversation, rather than delivering an agenda.
I believe that accountability and transparency help create better policies, improve public services and stop the abuse of power. The residents of Breezy Point need to know and understand the policies, decisions or actions taken by the council. Without accountability and transparency, the citizens of Breezy Point will continue to feel frustrated and disenfranchised.
No city has an unlimited budget. The council needs to consider our limited resources and how to allocate them properly. I believe that we should start with our city’s goals and objectives and back into our budget from there. From this, we should have a clear set of goals and there should be Key Performance Indicators (KPI) or outcomes liked to these goals. Perhaps an online community dashboard could be utilized that would allow residents to track performance to goals.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
