I believe I'm the most qualified candidate for this position because of my experience in leading the city council for almost 10 years now. Through hard work and dedication, I helped secure funding to replace our aging lift station and force main. The water tower was also refurbished without raising taxes or borrowing money. I will strive to keep taxes low and work to maintain essential public services.
Fix and maintain our city roads. We are planning on chip rocking our city streets in the next year. We will need to replace some cement catch basins and patch/fix potholes. Without doing this maintenance, we run the risk of spending even more money in the future by delaying this work. I hope by continuing to invest in our city roads and infrastructure, we will see future growth within the city.
One of first things I asked the city council to do when I became mayor was to establish a city website. Over the years, the website has allowed people to read meeting minutes and find city ordinances. We will continue to improve that facet of city government and find ways to improve our communication with the taxpayers.
We welcome citizens to come to public meetings every month. If people want to visit with me at city hall, I can set a time at the office to visit and discuss concerns.
We will be entering into a new policing contract with Goodhue County in 2025. The city has asked the county to be a visible presence in the community. The enforcement speeding laws as it pertains to County Road 9 is important, and we expect the county will be more active when it comes to public safety and the intersection at Goodhue Avenue and 1st Avenue Court.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
