I am the best candidate to be the Mayor of the City of Clearwater because I come in with six years of experience in the position. Before I was Mayor, I was a member of City Council and before that I was a member of the Parks Commission. As incumbent mayor I am prepared to tackle demanding issues. MnDOT’s I-94 bridge project is multi-layered and I come to the table with several years of community, business and city meetings with MnDot. The orderly annexation agreement with Clearwater Township that I helped negotiate continues to grow the city tax base. The size of the City of Clearwater has expanded due to the orderly annexation. With a budget where a $10k increase ups the levy by 1%, new businesses are needed to keep taxes low.
Have as smooth of a MnDot/I-94 bridge project as possible. There will be headaches with road construction, but this will make transportation for our residents safer. Continue to support and grow businesses in the city, this will improve our tax revenues. Continue to improve our natural areas and access to the Mississippi. We are on the largest river in the country and we should have better use of it.
We participate in through audits every year and score well on them. We have discussed in open meeting the importance of not having a walking meeting. We conduct through evaluation of staff members annually. We send out information on social media, the digital billboard, on line and in paper as needed.
I have knocked on every door in the city more than one time and asked residents to share their thoughts and concerns. The city has sent out more than one survey asking for input. The phone number listed on the website is my personal phone number. If I don't answer when someone calls, I have a 100% response rate and will always call back
Since I've been mayor, we have reviewed the contract with the Wright County Sherriff and adjusted as needed. We have a sheriff's report and ask questions every meeting. I attend quarterly Wright County Mayor's meetings and speak one on one with the Sherriff at these. I sit on the Fire Relief Board and on the Fire Commission and review the fire contract regularly. I voted in the purchase of a new fire engine.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
