I believe that I would be the best candidate as I am currently serving on the council and believe I have helped to usher in much needed projects. The city council I have been a part of has focused on addressing public infrastructure at an earlier juncture than when it becomes an emergency and needs to be repaired right away. I also believe that I am able to give different and conflicting ideas the same consideration and work collaboratively with the other members of the council and city employees to come to the best decision of the city. I would treat all citizens equally and not engage in favoritism or be punitive towards those I don’t agree with or who don’t agree with me. I also bring a unique perspective from my time in social services.
If I were to be elected my top three priorities would be to continue on infrastructure improvement, continue to work addressing I/I that is affecting our sewer system, and work to bring more events to the town. It is important to maintain our infrastructure as a failure would lead to much bigger issues and higher cost. It is important to address I and I as the levels when we had some of the heavy rains was to the point where it almost overwhelmed the system. More events help local businesses.
I believe that it is the job of the city council to represent all of the people of the community as it is them who we serve. I believe that the city council makes it very easy for members of the community to attend meetings and make known concerns that they have. Any and all issues that are brought forward are given fair and equal examination before a decision is made. I also feel council members are reachable to the public with whom which to share ideas or concerns.
The importance of transparency and accountability in city government is very important. To help ensure this, I would ensure that public meeting laws and laws city government would be followed. I would also say that the city clerk has a great responsibility in helping with transparency as she keeps very detailed notes that are made available for public viewing. I also consider very seriously being fiscally responsible with the city’s money for projects.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
