Growing up in the Nisswa area coupled with 30 years of public service in Law enforcement and 8 years as a elected member of the Nisswa City council has left me with an insight to the area. I understand public safety and believe it is the primary job of government. Public safety is not just police and fire, it is a multifaceted undertaking and requires a community approach. I believe the citizens of the community need to be involved and should be solicited for their ideas. Citizens need to be informed and deserve a explanation based on facts, not agendas. I am fact driven and do not believe in agendas. I will fight for Nisswa. I have not desire to position myself for higher office. Nisswa has been and will always be my focus.
Public Safety: Public Works: Planning and Zoning:

Public safety is the primary job of government. We must maintain what we have and plan for the future.

Public Works and Planning and Zoning are not as simple as many would like it to be. MNDOT, Crow Wing County, and the MNDNR are just the tip of the iceberg the city has to deal with on many projects. We need to find a way to get these projects and the approval processes to work more efficiently and when possible at the speed of business.

I will make better use of our website to keep taxpayers informed. I want to start a quarterly news letter so all departments in the city can get information out better. All Departments have the ability to post on the city website upcoming events, what is happening in our community from their departments perspective. I will encourage all to make better use of these tools. My email and phone number are posted on the city website. I am available and will always listen and give fact based answer.
I believe we should start a quarterly news letter posted on line and mailed out. I will continue to engage citizens and listen to their point of view. Citizens can sign up on our website to receive an update whenever the site is updated. I encourage all to make use of this feature. I believe our boards and commissions play a vital role and encourage citizens to attend meetings in person or on line. I have always encouraged people to contact me with any question s they may have. I will respond.
As a retired law enforcement officer I believe officers needs to integrate themselves with their community. Getting out of the squad and greeting people. Speak to business owners and visitors in our community go the extra mile. We see people from all over the world in our small town every year. Police officers are the most visible ambassadors in our community and with that comes a unique opportunity to make a lasting first impression. The Nisswa Police Dept. has great officers doing just this.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
