I believe in an open, honest, caring democracy that seeks & celebrates public input, diversity & discourse for people of all incomes, neighborhoods, ages & political parties. I believe staggeringly high unjustified project spending ($7M spent to an unbridled for-profit consulting firm), spiraling debt ($24M), unwarranted taxation (+21% over 4 years) and years of ignoring resident priorities harms everyone in Shorewood. Visit www.reclaimshorewood.com which documents how the incumbent Mayor has failed us all. I am a skilled, thoughtful, friendly & experienced leader: educational psychologist, special ed teacher, Honeywell global HR planning manager, CEO of a large IT firm, Met Council Executive & Strategic Planning Teacher at Metro State.
I will immediately establish fiscal responsibility & spending accountability. Focus will be on controlled spending, lower taxes & listening to the people. With Michelle DiGruttolo, Guy Sanschagrin & Nat Gorham as voting partners, the City will become strong environmental stewards, ban systemic pesticides & embrace trees & natural habitat. We will laser-focus on making road & crossing safety a very high priority, amplify services for seniors & children & fully embrace democracy & equality.
The Incumbent limits citizen input to 3 minutes without discussion, charges up to $1,000 to supply residents with their own data, refuses to enable safe at-home Zoom for Commission and Work Sessions, declares she will first listen to the paid for-profit “experts” & only then will she listen to the public. I will make every aspect of Shorewood open, barrier-free, responsive, participative & vibrant. I will proactively solicit everyone’s input & establish clear resident priorities & objectives.
We will hold regular town hall style meetings, conduct friendly surveys of needs, create expert resident panels embracing the resources of our community, encourage & reward every resident who talks with us, eliminate scores of barriers to full resident participation & guarantee that everyone can have full access to us & all data. For the many residents who own their own businesses, we will work with them & help them prosper. For decisions with City-wide impact, we will get everyone’s input.

I met with the South Lake Police Chief & I previously headed Met Council’s federally funded prevention & treatment programs & law enforcement assistance programs. I believe the City & all of us must work together to ensure the safety and security of not only our residents but also our officers. I believe in full funding of public safety, highest quality hiring & creative issue driven team solutions to the challenges of crime, road & crossing safety, chronic chemical abuse & mental health.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
