St Bonifacius City Mayor

The mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. They also can preside at council meetings and appoint city workers. A mayor usually has a role in proposing a city budget which influences services provided to residents and can veto ordinances proposed by the city council.Voting in local elections is important - learn more here: Why Vote for Mayor

I know our community, I know how to get things done, and am approachable.

Almost 40 years of experience leading boards very much like city council.

A business leader of 40 years, as a project manager and business owner, I know how to: o lead and stay calm in tough situations o handle budgets o negotiate o make difficult decisions o communicate (particularly how to listen) – connection with others is what I do. Connection with others is what I do. In my life in St. Boni, I have gotten to know, and be known by, many people here. I want to represent the needs of them all.

As a 27-year resident, I’ve seen all the changes in that time. I have a sense of the history of the city and a sense of its future!
1. Focusing on the nuts-and-bolts basics of governing, particularly: a. Tighter budget management and financial return thinking! b. Finding ways to increase business!

2. Increasing transparency in city government!

3. Boosting a sense of community!
I’ll push for city council to be more active in communication with St. Boni citizens.

Posting meeting agendas and minutes on the city website isn’t enough! We need to meet citizens where they are!

I'll also err on the side of more opportunities to hear your opinions on things, rather than fewer - even if a meeting isn't mandated by law, I'll still push for you to be heard.
I plan to hold a quarterly public citizen ‘listening hour’ in a public location.

I will also establish several, sweeping methods for citizens to provide their constructive input and ideas to the city council. I plan to make use of the 'St. Boni City Matters' Facebook group, for instance.
I intend to continue the long-standing and effective policing relationship we have with the Minnetrista police force. I believe that is working well for our small town and see no reason at this time to change that relationship for our small city.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
