Shoreview City Mayor

The mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. They also can preside at council meetings and appoint city workers. I am a 30+ year resident of Shoreview so am familiar with the city and the safety, services and amenities that Shoreview citizens value. I volunteered on the Economic Development Commission for over 9 years, was appointed to the Economic Development Authority before running for City Council in 2016. I served on the council for six years before running for Mayor in 2022. I believe that my volunteer and public office experience is of value to the community and am honored to serve the city of Shoreview. I also served as Shoreview representative and past President of the Lake Johanna Fire Dept. board and as Shoreview representative and past President of the Ramsey County League of Local Governments,
My top three priorities are 1) to continue to focus on Economic Development which is important to retain and grow local businesses, jobs and maintain our tax base; 2) grow housing opportunities for new and existing residents including continued focus on affordable housing; and 3) preserve the Shoreview quality of life which includes public safety, sustainability and community engagement. Shoreview neighborhoods and community have always made the city a special place.
Continue our focus on transparent communication around our city's budget and financial reporting. Shoreview has for many years annually won an award for local government financial reporting. Our city council, city manager and I will continue to adhere closely to open meeting law requirements and public hearings notifications. Our city manager and I will continue to work together to ensure that resident issues receive timely follow up.
Our city will continue to survey residents for feedback typically bi-annually. Those results are shared with residents. Shoreview residents are invited to participate in City Council meetings in person, via streaming, or by watching later. Residents also can forward comments and questions directly to the mayor via the city website or by phone. I hold office hours as well as some informal coffee meetings and those will continue.
Continuous and ongoing collaboration/communication with our public safety providers is key. Shoreview contracts with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office for police services and the city manager meets with them monthly. While a council member and mayor, I was on the Lake Johanna Fire Dept board and helped set service levels and policy for that critical public safety partner. Shoreview also receives immediate notification of emergency and critical events--for policing and fire.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
