Hello I’m John Budziszewski and I’m running for Crystal City Council Ward 3. A resident since 1997, we have two wonderful children. I got involved in politics when our streets got busy and we wanted safer neighborhoods. My Goal is to Reduce Speeding in Crystal. This is important to support a peaceful city. I will lower your property taxes by promoting commercial development and making Crystal a destination location for small business owners. My promise to you is to hold businesses that sell alcohol, tobacco, and THC edibles to the highest standard. Socially liberal, Financially staunch. I have a BA in International Relations and I'm currently employed by the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier. Find out more JOHNBFORCRYSTAL.COM
My primary goals are to reduce speeding, implement low-cost organics recycling, and to lower property taxes by promoting commercial development by making Crystal a destination location for small business owners. Since covid, we have seen an increase in traffic violations and we need to do more to improve and keep our our neighborhoods safe. With the mandate of organics recycling from the state legislation, the cost has been transfered by the haulers to their customers but without any recycling.
In 2021 with the death of George Floyd, I worked to bring to the city of Crystal a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission to advice the city council on issues with in our community as well as allow citizens to express thier concerns regarding George Floyd's death and any concerns they have in a safe environment. I as their representative, am open to criticism and direction to ensure our city is open and welcoming to all.
I support and adhere to the Open Meeting Law requirements of government as well as any constituent issue is shared/documented with the council and the city manager for resolution. I'm constituent focused and work diligently to resolve all issues in a timely manner.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
