If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? (750 characters)

What will you do to support a vibrant economy across Minnesota and to address inflation? (500 character)

What legislation, if any, would you support to address racial or ethnic disparities in Minnesota? (500 characters)

What legislation, if any, would you support to address climate change and its effects in Minnesota? (500 characters)

Continued support of education and childcare initiatives; economic development while protecting our outdoor heritage; protecting reproductive freedom and expanding access to healthcare.
Inflation is not as significant as it was a year ago. Individual items are more expensive but globally, inflation has lessened. I support private/public partnerships and increased affordable housing to keep our workers and our economy strong.
Climate equity is a real issue. Siting landfills and incinerators in underserved neighborhoods can't continue. In addition, more needs to be done to close gaps in public education across all races and ethnicities.
Climate change is real. However, in our move towards a carbon neutral state, we need to be pragmatic. I live in NE MN. We have few electric charging stations for eCars. We need the infrastructure in place to get where we want to go. Also, we need to seek ways of continuing our NE MN way of life (hunting, fishing, boating, ATVing, etc...) while reducing emissions. Creativity will be needed!

As your State Representative, I promised to be accessible and I did just that. I held numerous meet and greets, hosted town halls, wrote newspaper articles monthly, and gave my cell number to constituents for direct access to me for questions and concerns. My priorities are to make Minnesota Affordable for everyone, to ensure child care is stabilized for families and free-standing centers in Northern MN after over 50% loss in family childcare and several closures for centers, ensure social security TAX is eliminated for all income levels for seniors to make MN competitive with other states. MN had an 18 billion dollar surplus, and yet childcare centers are closing, taxes were increased by 10 billion and Gov grew 40% which is not sustainable
I support a diversified energy policy that includes propane, diesel, natural gas, Hydro, Nuclear, coal, and wind and solar. Mandates for wind/solar only are unreliable, and unaffordable. Ensure a strong commercial tax base to avoid a large shift of tax burden on individuals and families. Property taxes are based on school, city, and county budgets, and mandates from the state without money to fund them must stop, districts are in layoffs/cuts after historic funding which should never happen.
Supporting education to ensure all can read. Currently, less than 50% of MN kids can read at grade level and scores are at all-time lows despite historic spending by DFL. Without the ability to read, opportunities are limited for a pathway to prosper. If you can't read, one's earning potential is limited, and this needs to be a top focus statewide. I authored and passed bills to encourage pathways for nurses, and trades in our schools to ensure Minnesotans have as many opportunities as possible
I supported initiatives to provide more options including allowing Hydro to qualify under renewable energy standards, and I also support pursuing carbon capture & sequestration technology and nuclear energy. I supported continued funding through Legacy funds which provide money for the clean water fund, outdoor heritage with financing of prairies, forests, wetlands, habitats, etc., and parks and trail funding. I voted for $240 million for lead pipe replacements for clean drinking water for all.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
