As a 25-year resident of Eden Prairie and a dedicated volunteer for the past 20 years, I am deeply committed to our community. Serving as a City Council member, I have built strong relationships with residents, businesses, non-profits, and community leaders. This engagement has provided valuable insights into the issues that affect our daily lives and the priorities that matter most to us.
I have collaborated with stakeholders on critical issues such as sustainability, climate change, affordable housing, and the preservation of our parks and lakes, all while advocating for low taxes. My experience managing large budgets, along with my background as CTO, equips me with the skills necessary to effectively serve our community.
As a City Council member, my goal is to keep Eden Prairie a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I prioritize policies that address sustainability and climate change. With our community's growing diversity, it's essential to enhance cultural experiences and tackle affordable housing. Additionally, I advocate for strong support for our first responders, ensuring we maintain an efficient police and fire department to keep our community safe. Together, we can create a thriving EP.
As a City Council Member for the past 6 years, a volunteer for the last 20 years, and the only minority, I have interacted with 1,000s of residents. The City Council is emphasizing events such as Coffee with Cop, PeopleFest, and Art at the Park, among many other events to interact with diverse communities. We will be refining the City’s policies, procedures, and training methods to identify areas for improvement. Our goal is to ensure that EP remains a great place to live and raise a family.
As an engineer, I approach challenges logically, listen actively, and ask questions. Collaborating with fellow City Council members, I make informed decisions that prioritize the needs of our residents. My interactions with 1,000s residents at events and on the campaign trail allow me to understand their concerns. I take these insights to city staff to explore solutions and improvements. I am dedicated to doing what’s best for Eden Prairie as a whole, always striving to serve our community.
If re-elected, I will continue to listen and help our residents. I have a deep commitment to Eden Prairie. Currently, I represent the city on the 494 Corridor Commission, the Municipal Legislative Commission, and the Southwest Corridor Management Committee. For more than 20 years, I have worked extensively/volunteered with nonprofits and civic groups in Eden Prairie. I have experience working with those in need through my past position as executive director of Meals on Wheels also in my current position as Treasurer of the PROP Shop. I have a strong commitment to public safety as the President of the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention and Criminal Apprehension Fund. I have held leadership roles in several civic groups and other nonprofits.
Affordable Housing - This is an important issue because in short, it is essential for having a healthy, more equitable and vibrant community. Safe Integration of Light Rail – People have voiced safety concerns regarding the integration of light rail. The city may need to hire additional well-trained staff to address these concerns. Sustainability – I will continue to support the Climate Action Plan the city has adopted. It is essential for guiding us in the face of climate change.
I plan to continue to listen and participate in outreach programs like the City Council’s town hall meetings. Encourage equitable policy development and programs that take specific needs of different segments of our city into account. Reach out to a variety of groups for their opinions on new policies.
I will also maintain my close ties to the nonprofit community. Often, the nonprofits are the ones that are the first to welcome new residents into our city.
Eden Prairie is very transparent and accountable to its residents. All council meetings and workshops are open to the public and available to view online. All agendas, minutes, and council packets are available online.
Council packets include all financial transactions that the city has conducted in the time between meetings. All projects including budgets, contracts, and timelines are available on the city’s website and in the packets. I will work to ensure this transparency is maintained.
I’m running my campaign a little differently than is conventional. You will not see an advertisement for me or a yard sign. I want to show that you can participate in local politics and help your community without having to spend and worry so much on how many ads or signs or mailers you are able to afford.
I want to continue to make Eden Prairie a great place to live and believe I will bring a different perspective.
I believe there is a need for more moderately priced housing in Eden Prairie… not just government mandated ‘affordable’ units that a few and far between but housing a young professional can get their start with in Eden Prairie.
I believe we need to find alternative forms of funding before we increase property taxes- not limited but including a municipal cannabis dispensary similar to how the liquor sales offset taxes.
I believe that our amenities should be more transparent to our residents.
I believe being receptive to listening to all concerns from all the communities in Eden Prairie is the best way to soak in issues. I am willing to learn, as an adoptive parent of 4, my children come from multiple ethnicities and I see how they move through the community and want Eden Prairie to be open to everyone.
I believe making the city website more usable, definitely on mobile would allow the information that the city already publishes to be transparent to be more easily viewed and would greatly help making sure the city is transparent. I would like to encourage more residents to participate in the city workshops and city council meetings so they can see everything for themselves.
