My extensive volunteer work and over a decade of community involvement have given me valuable insight into the needs and aspirations of our residents. My experience with the local Chamber has built strong connections with our business community, helping me understand the unique challenges we face together. As a strategic, collaborative thinker, I am dedicated to finding innovative solutions and fostering partnerships that drive positive change. With a service platform focused on community engagement, transparent governance, and inclusion, I aim to address the priorities that matter most to Stillwater. My non-profit experience equips me to plan and execute initiatives that benefit our neighborhoods. I am ready to work for Stillwater.
My top three priorities are transparency, inclusion, and collaborative leadership. I will ensure transparency through consistent, clear communication, and foster an inclusive community by listening, respecting, ensuring accessibility to information and staying engaged with all voices. Collaborative leadership, driven by innovative thinking and teamwork, to help us solve challenges together. These values will empower a stronger Stillwater, where everyone feels heard and our city thrives.
By prioritizing open, inclusive communication through active community engagement and seeking ways to expand upon what the city is already doing in making information availble. I’m skilled at assessing different audiences, identifying barriers to understanding or accessibility, and tailoring messages and/or delivery to ensure everyone is informed. By actively listening and fostering empathy-driven dialogue, I will create spaces where all voices are heard and valued in decision-making processes.
To ensure transparency and accountability, I will communicate clear strategies and objectives; while working to make information easily accessible. I’ll listen closely to feedback, ensuring concerns are addressed, and regularly update the community on progress. By taking responsibility for actions and fostering open communication, I’ll create a responsive and accountable government that actively collaborates with residents and businesses to achieve our shared vision for a thriving Stillwater.

Over 25 years, I’ve worked with many clients on hundreds of projects. I start as an unknown outsider, but I quickly gain trust and credibility. Why? Because I focus on creating value and making others shine. I’m empathetic, yet direct. I listen and ask questions. I do my homework and come prepared. I frame issues in new ways. And I’ll do the same as your city council member. While we celebrate Stillwater’s rich history, we can’t ignore issues like social inequity, climate change, and threatened natural resources. Like other cities, Stillwater can drive innovative solutions, thanks to its community of engaged residents, dedicated public servants, and passionate business leaders. It would be an honor to work with all of you to make it happen.
(1) Increase livability: e.g. traffic calming in neighborhoods; human- vs. car-centered experiences; ensuring that downtown is inviting to residents & visitors alike. (2) Protect and leverage our natural resources: e.g., ensure clean water by addressing PFAS contamination; explore innovative economic growth opportunities that celebrate our beautiful natural assets. (3) Work with state & county on affordable housing solutions, so people can live where they work and enjoy a better quality of life.
I believe in community-inspired & community-driven city governance with residents as co-creators. I will engage with people in ways convenient to THEM – in cafés, churches, schools, and library; through online surveys; mornings, afternoons, and evenings. To ensure all are heard and not just a vocal minority, I will actively seek input from “the quiet ones” in welcoming spaces where they feel respected and heard. Building trust with community & spiritual leaders is a key part of this effort.
There are many ways to foster transparency. For example, diverse community-selected residents could serve as liaisons (e.g. serving for 3-12 months) who interface routinely with city leadership & staff across the spectrum of city activities & projects. City reports should be published in multiple formats at least annually in plain English and open to public comment. There must be an annual accounting of goal attainment across departments, and codified processes for addressing shortfalls.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
