I am an average resident of the City of Ramsey and have lived here 25 years. I have seen the changes the city has gone through both good and bad and I am willing to listen to the people of this city. I am retired from the Army Reserves after 24 years and have had a long career as an Iron Worker. Both of these positions have taught me hard work and team work are needed to get the job done. I have held leadership positions in both of these roles and know how to bring people together. I currently hold positions in various veterans organizations.
My top three priorities for the City of Ramsey are First to work on transparency, prioritize a long term city plan that highlights a rural-urban balance as well as assessing, improving and maintaining city streets.
I would like to actively engage the city of Ramsey residents. Using multiple different modes of communication. Actively seek out diverse community perspectives. Most importantly I wish to make sure that all members of the community feel heard and valued. I want to engage the public in the earliest stages of planning by giving notice before required and using all methods of communication.
I would like to ensure transparency and accountability by making sure that city council agendas and minutes are easier to read and access for our community. Actively posting on social media various matters that come before the city council and results of votes.

I believe that I am the best candidate for the Ward 2 Council Member because I have a track record for service to our country and community. I served in the US Navy for over 20 years, specializing in ensuring the supply and logistics of the ship ran effectively and under budget. After retirement, my family and I moved to Ramsey because we found a safe community we could raise a family. I applied for and was selected to serve on the Ramsey Planning Commission for the last 5 years. I love this community and I want to keep it safe and prosperous.
1. Strengthen public safety by ensuring that our Police and Fire Departments are properly funded and can react to keep Ramsey safe. 2. Ensure that our road maintenance schedule is adhered to and that they are quality roads that last! 3. Keep Ramsey a mix of rural and urban by adhering to the residential zoning and respecting the perspectives of citizens.
When I was a Senior Chief in the Navy, I always had an open-door policy. Now, I can't really do that since this is not a ship at sea! But, I will be available when a resident wants to talk. Even if they do not agree with me, I will hear them out. I would like to be transparent in my ideas and and the decisions I make while serving them. If they have a point of view, I want to hear it.
Tell the residents the truth. Don't sugarcoat it. Expect and demand the same from those in City Council. Remember your Oath.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
