As mayor, I will advocate for Family-Friendly and Business-Friendly policies and initiatives. The future of Fergus Falls lies in our ability to retain and attract young families. I’ve lived and worked here for over 35 years, with the privilege of serving on the City Council for nearly six. I’ve served on many committees and have built strong, helpful relationships within our community, and with city, county, and state offices. I aim to represent and serve the citizens of Fergus Falls with kindness, respect, integrity, patience, and good cheer. With over 40 years experience in sales and management, I feel well-prepared for this position. Fergus Falls is a great place to live, work, and raise a family, and I am proud to tell that story.
1) The Kirkbride. I will create a task force to seek funding and developers to bring new life to the Regional Treatment Center. This will address our need for housing and will expand our tax base through economic development. 2) Infrastructure. We need to create greater clarity in our goals and strategy for the maintenance of our roads, parking lots, buildings, equipment, and utility infrastructure. 3) Pickleball. (To see if anyone reads this.)
I will advocate for improvements to the open forum as a part of our city council meetings, to allow for greater dialogue and feedback. I will initiate periodic town hall meetings to allow for greater discussion of any issues in a less formal setting. The mayor’s office at City Hall will have established office hours, no appointment required. We have many boards, commissions, and committees. I will ask that the minutes of these meetings be compiled in a monthly report to the mayor and council.
Same as above – open forum, town hall meetings, established office hours, monthly committee reports. As we continue to expand communication using social media, I expect to develop more opportunities for surveys and public comment on city policies, projects, plans and other activities.
I support on-going training for our public safety officers and staff, both police and fire departments - making sure we have the most up-to-date tools and resources. I’m proud of our experienced and effective police and fire departments and the sense of security they bring to our community. I support zoning restrictions to prevent retail marijuana businesses from becoming established in our historic downtown, where they would be adjacent to residential spaces and children’s activities.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
