Living in Detroit Lakes, I’ve seen the city as a child growing up in the schools that prepared me to be a community leader with thoughtful perspective, as a young adult coming back home after college to start a career, and now giving back to the community through the city council. I take my responsibility seriously by working to understand all the issues to make the tough choices for the betterment of the entire community. I am respectful in my process and deliberative in my actions. I believe transparency and proper planning are essential cornerstones of all government. I show up to meetings with an eagerness of knowing the actions taken today will impact the next generation’s choice to come back to a thriving community they can call home.
Continue to make sure we are taking care of our streets, parks, buildings, and infrastructure. We cannot afford to let ourselves get behind on these projects again. Planning and implementing the West Lake Drive project from Washington to Legion. We have a once in a generation opportunity to bring this area back to life. Housing and development. The city continues to need more housing and workers for its existing business and industry. We need diverse options for redevelopment and new development
I am respectful and a good listener. I do not overreact with a kneejerk reaction and take the time to come up with a thought out response or solution to a situation. I put in the effort to find out what is going on and find answers. I work to allow for people to tell their own story in their own way. I am compassionate towards others and I actively strive to dispel rumors, untruthful, or unwelcome information or comments.
One major way of ensuring transparency and accountability in city government is encouraging people to take part and show up to meetings. Give opportunity for people to learn and share in the process as allowed. Educate people in the processes and the take the time to explain the how and why things are done and give people to the opportunity to serve on an advisory board but most importantly to encouraging people to show up, see, and be part of the process.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
