My top three priorities are education, public safety and the economy — things I am hearing from the people I am running to serve. Minnesota is now ranked 19th in the nation in education and I find that appalling. We must improve our public schools and allow parents to choose the school that best meets their child’s needs. Allowing people to repeatedly perpetuate crimes with no meaningful consequences is cruel and unusual to the general public. We must ensure justice for the victims of crime instead of coddling criminals. The people of Minnesota know better than the legislature how best to spend their hard-earned tax dollars. We must cut spending and reduce taxes to ease the burden of inflation.
The best way to support a vibrant economy is to eliminate burdensome regulations on small businesses and reduce taxes so that Minnesotans have more money in their pockets to spend as they see fit. We also need to look very hard at government funded programs that aren’t working and eliminate them. Having people dependent on the government is a drain on everyone. And we must do more to prevent the fraud and waste that has plagued our state.
We don’t need any additional legislation to address racial and ethnic disparities in our state. We already have anti-discrimination laws. Are they not being enforced? The continual emphasis on race and identity is a disservice to all ethnic minorities, as it is a constant reminder that they are “less than,” when they are not. Let’s focus more on individual ability and achievement, and improving our education system— that’s how we reduce these disparities.
I would support legislation that promotes more nuclear energy, as it is safe, clean, relatively less expensive and better for the environment. We need to utilize a combination of technologies that create low-cost, clean, efficient energy that works best for the varying climate conditions and populations across our state. One-size-fits-all is not a good strategy to be good stewards of our environment.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
