Luverne City Mayor

The mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. They also can preside at council meetings and appoint city workers. I believe that the past 14 years as Mayor of Luverne have shown what can be done through collaboration of industry, residents, and staff can do for a community in growth in economic development, population, and tax base, and quality of life amenities. We have accomplished this in Luverne while also being able to provide and improve critical services like waste water treatment, power generation for dispatch during outages, and the daycare shortage problem while keeping our city taxes low and in most cases lower than most cities our size.
To see the Kids Rock Day Care Center get into operation in order to provide much needed daycare to our community and area. I will make sure that city staff, council, and boards work towards reviewing all operations in order to remain fiscally responsible in all budgets. We need to also continue to look at more housing developments in order to provide housing opportunities to every income level of all of existing residents and those that are looking to move to our community through life changes
I believe that my record shows that over the past 14 years as Mayor of Luverne that the staff, council members, and all boards and commissions have worked to be transparent, and accountable while holding the highest ethical standards in carrying out their duties. I will strive to continue these standards in all areas of Luverne city government operations.
I will continue to be fully available for phone calls as is the case now. My email and cell phone are listed on the city web site and we offer community input before every committee of the whole meeting. I am always looking for community input while engaging citizens through everyday visits and through community organization functions.
I will continue to work closely with the Rock County Sheriff's office and Sheriff VerBrugge of Rock County. We will continue to have quarterly briefs to the city council and staff at city council meetings. I am always available to listen to community concerns and work with the Sheriff to remedy any public safety issues or citizen concerns.
