As the fastest growing county in Minnesota, Carver County needs leadership to prepare for the anticipated additional 50% growth in the next 10 years. We need to create a shared vision for this future to: 1) Create efficiencies by taking a hard look at where resources are spent, seeking areas to streamline and ensuring there is a return on investment for taxpayer dollars. 2) Make Carver County an easier place to do business, that will provide tax revenue, services and jobs to our community. 3) Prepare for future housing, transportation and infrastructure needs in partnership with our cities to meet the needs all residents and families.
It is crucial to protect and strengthen the security of the fairness of our election processes. Carver County is required to administer all Federal, State and Local elections within the county, report election results, oversee voter registration for all eligible voters, and follow all election laws. Actively building awareness and understanding of the laws and safeguards, as well as accurate reporting of results and challenge options are vital to eliminating barriers in the voting process.
Mental Health is often the tipping point to relationship breakdowns, job loss, food insecurity, homelessness and sometimes crime. The challenge is to craft solutions to support people with identification of and remedies to mental health issues before they experience a full-blown crisis. It is imperative that we partner with existing agencies to create public/private partnerships that will expand our services to include proactive mental wellness programs that support families and care givers.

1. Manage Growth: Carver County is one of fastest growing counties in MN and with that growth comes both challenges and opportunities. I believe my experience working for Blue Earth, Scott, and Carver Counties during periods of growth and change will position me well to meet those challenges and opportunities.

2. Strengthen County Communication: The loss of our hometown newspaper(s) highlights the need for expanded communication in and for our communities. My experience with local government communications and social media platforms positions will allow me to be successful with these expansions.

3. Prepare for a Positive Future: I have a long history of listening and seeking the opinion of others and I will continue. Let’s work together!
We must take steps to assure fair and accurate elections in our state. This includes adequate oversight through all levels of the election process, utilizing many individuals with balanced political affiliations as part of the process. County staff should continue in their work ensuring that those who can legally vote in Carver County are able to do so.
Calls for mental health and social services have continued to increase as Carver County grows and our population expands. We need to ensure adequate levels of staff and resources are available for providing services, to keep up with the pace of growth. Are various programs and departments working together? I believe we can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our efforts.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
