End Homelessness in MN, Address food insecurities and create a robust mental health system in western MN. I often tell my story often, of my time as an Indian Education Liaison and earning my MS in Ed Leadership, and how I learned firsthand what our most vulnerable population needed to increase graduation rates. I believe that it is fundamental to provide safe, stable and inclusive housing for all, while making sure we are hungry and have the space to address our mental health in a holistic approach to community care. Ending Homelessness isn't the main mission of many leaders and I plan to continue to fight in this area. Lifting up the voices of our neighbors is a priority in this work.
We need to address the cost of building materials as that is one of the root causes of housing costs on the rise. I believe we need to be more open to explore hemp as a building material and start looking at smaller homes and tiny communities vs large home structures that families can't afford. Working directly with education systems to provide more supports in schools and Higher Ed to proved student support services so our youth and young adults can become the professionals and workers we need.
I'm one of the only Indigenous Elected officials in the state so I carry a large chunk of our Tribal and Indigenous focused legislations including the bills to protect Minnesota Indian Family Preservation Act, Tribal college funding supports, Teachers Of Color and Indigenous Teachers Scholarships, Indigenous People's Day as a State Holiday, Indian Education for ALL, Right to Regalia, and creation of the MMIR office and license plates. Also, the Chair of the Native American Legislative Caucus.
Water is Life! I'm a generational water protector and will always fight to protect our most sacred relatives. We absolutely need to be better to Mother Earth as she only responses the love or harm we provide her with. Another reason why I love the idea of hemp so much! Great for the carbon impacts.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.

VOTE411 is brought to you by the League of Women Voters Education Fund and League of Women Voters of Minnesota Education Fund. The League of Women Voters does not support or oppose any political party or candidate for office.
