I believe a good leader first listens, and then acts. I have met with and will continue to meet with both citizens and business owners to hear from those in our community about what needs to change, and now is the time to act. I am running for Mayor of Otsego, MN because this city needs strong leadership and a Mayor with a plan that fosters healthy growth without burdening the citizens with more taxes.
I will fight to freeze spending and lower taxes while building revenue from residential and commercial development to reinvest into the infrastructure of our growing community. I believe we can embrace growth and development in a way that benefits every resident and every neighborhood. I look forward to hearing from more of you. Your questions on my action plan are welcome.
I will ensure that all city council meeting recordings are public and remain public. I will also fight to have major tax levy be on the ballot to allow citizens a voice on how their tax dollars are spent.
As mayor of our great city I will work on behalf of the residents. We might always agree but I welcome a healthy dialog on all of the issues. With any questions/ concerns now, or once Im elected, I encourage all residence to call or email me at any time.
Regrading infrastructure such as a fire station and the eventual police station. My policies will ensure the expansion of public safety infrastructure without a need for the massive tax increases the current leadership will impose.

I have put my heart and soul into making Otsego a great community for the entire 20+ years our family has lived here. I am the most experienced council member, not just candidate. I became involved in the City with Parks and Recreation Commission in 2000 and have been active ever since. I am present not only at council meetings, but also at the advisory commission meetings and community events. I also am involved in several local community service groups including Lions and Gifts Anonymous. I am an active leader and believe in collaboration and team -based decision making. I appreciate everyone that comes to the table with input and their perspectives. I want residents to feel connected and part of the process to move Otsego forward.
My priorities are to continue setting up Otsego to be a great place to live/work/play now and in the future. With continued growth over the past two decades focus on immediate and future infrastructure is crucial. Engaging with the 3 school districts that serve Otsego to help them provide schools. And we will continue to monitor and expand public safety services. These include working and adjusting level of patrol hours as needed along with operating our own fire station opening 1/1/2027.
All meetings are open to the public and I am always personally available to residents via a phone call or email as my information is public. The City has added staff this year to increase communications. We continue to look for new ways to interact and communicate with residents like expanding the newsletter, updating the City website to have more content and be more user friendly and broadcasting council meetings via Zoom with recordings available after on YouTube.
We have done recent completed long range planning projects that have involved the use of social pinpoint, direct mailings, public open houses, social media and face to face at recreation events to make sure we are meeting the residents when we can get candid feedback. In a more formal setting, our city council meetings and workshops are always open to the public and I am always available via phone or email.
Public safety is always one of my top priorities as Mayor! Otsego uses the Wright County Sheriff to provide complete police services cost effectively. I communicate regularly with Sheriff Deringer to make sure people feel safe. The City has a Public Safety Commission so that residents feel connected and have a venue to come with concerns. The Public Safety Commission advises the council not only on police, but fire and ambulance services on a monthly basis with public input always welcome.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
