What steps will you take to ensure transparency and accountability in city government? (500 characters)

I bring a unique blend of small-town values, military discipline, and extensive corporate governance experience to the table. With a deep commitment to community and fairness, I aim to enhance transparency, efficiency, and community engagement in our governance. My professional background in security and process improvement equips me to implement practices that safeguard and optimize city resources, ensuring Greenfield remains a great place to live for every resident. I stand ready to challenge the status quo and advocate for every voice in our community.
1) Revamp the City Administrator review to include full council involvement, staff and public input, and clear performance metrics. 2) Bid out city attorney and engineer contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and optimal service quality. 3) Update the City Assessment Policy to guarantee fairness, transparency, and equity in appraisals and fees, ensuring every resident pays their fair share.
I've actively kept our community informed on city council decisions via social media, detailed the assessment processes, and worked on the Internet Task Force to enhance connectivity. My approach involves direct engagement, where I represent and lobby for residents, ensuring all voices are heard and acted upon. I'm committed to transparency and responsiveness, bridging gaps between the council and the community.
I will ensure transparency by actively sharing detailed city council updates and decisions through accessible communication channels. My commitment includes implementing regular public forums and feedback systems to foster open dialogue and community involvement. Accountability will be strengthened by introducing clear metrics for city operations and performance reviews, guaranteeing that government actions are aligned with community interests and standards.
I represent a direction for Greenfield that most share: keeping Greenfield a rural community. There are many pressures from the encroaching suburbs to urbanize Greenfield with radical changes; changes that would reduce our privacy, independence, and individuality. We all came here to live our lives in peace, on idyllic properties we make our own. I intend to defend that; for my family and yours. I'll leverage the hard-earned knowledge of my 30 years guiding businesses around the world to keep Greenfield the way you love it: your own personal slice of heaven.
Keep Greenfield Rural - The 1 home per 5 acre rule governing Greenfield is critical as our farmland changes over to large lots with their own clean water wells. Manage City Taxes Reasonably - Roads, Sheriff, and Fire are the things we need, not reckless taxation. Keep Greenfield Safe - Your family needs to be safe here so that everyone can grow and succeed.
I've met many people while campaigning in Greenfield that come from lots of different backgrounds; they've lived here all their life to escaping the city to having come home from abroad to new residents of the USA. What we all share in common is the desire to have our quiet homes with plenty of space to live out our lives. This commonality is what makes us Greenfield. Your best life is the one you choose, not the one you're told to live. The city and its representatives should reflect that.
Greenfield is a small town of about 1,200 families, that’s small enough that word will get around. I invite everyone to participate in Greenfield city government. The more eyes, the better, and the more ideas, even more the better. Nothing should ever be as complicated to require “just trust us” and you have a right to understand the why behind what happens in your city.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
