Spicer City Mayor

As your current Mayor, I am focused on personal leadership and community engagement. Since joining the Spicer City Council in 1999, I have been a consistent advocate for fiscal responsibility and conservative leadership. My commitment to personal responsibility and accountability ensures that the needs of Spicer's residents and business owners are always prioritized.

1. Fiscal responsibility has always been one of my top priorities. I understand the burden that rising property taxes have placed on residents. I will work to maintain a balanced budget while minimizing the need for tax increases. 2. Affordable housing is essential to ensuring that Spicer remains a welcoming community for all. 3. Tourism: I’ll ensure efforts benefit both visitors and residents, keeping Spicer desirable everyone.

I will keep the lines of communication open allowing residents and visitors to easily provide feedback and address concerns. Citizens are always welcome at our city council meetings which are the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month starting at 5:30pm at the Dethlefs Community Center Building.
I will work closely with Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department to ensure public safety. We as a city pay for increased patrols with the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department. Engaging with residents to understand their concerns and ensuring effective coordination with the county law enforcement will be key to maintaining community well-being.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024.
