I put the needs and voices of people as the top priority. They include: 1) Building strong families, communities and futures where people live, work and thrive. This means providing: lifelong world class educational opportunities, affordable healthcare, affordable housing, agriculture and food security, clean environment, natural resources, public safety, justice, transportation, veterans and military affairs, and help and services for all ages.

2) Building a strong economy full of opportunities; good jobs and increased income; business, commerce and revenue growth; and economic development at the state, national and global levels.

3) Reducing taxes while making taxes and good government work for the people.
Create conditions for a vibrant economy, address causes of businesses declining, reduce tax and regulatory burdens, lower costs and support employers and employees so they can thrive, make it easier and less expensive to run a business.

Provide support to small businesses so they can grow and thrive, encourage investments, provide support to be competitive with other states and globally.

Control inflation where possible including holding down spending and cost increases.
All legislation should address reducing and eliminating racial and ethnic disparities where applicable, just as all legislation looks at the fiscal impact. The Constitution and its Amendments guarantees rights to all whereby there should be no racial or ethnic disparities. Legislation can clarify and enhance policies so these rights are protected, fully implemented, and enforced.
No one can control the climate or weather, except where it’s been proven how we contribute to climate change and how we can change things. In these situations, legislation can provide methods of prevention and intervention in the negative causes and effects on climate change. More education, training, and proactive action steps are needed to make a difference. IE: reducing smoke and pollution, and recycling. We must be proactive in changes needed as part of saving our earth and our future.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.

VOTE411 is brought to you by the League of Women Voters Education Fund and League of Women Voters of Minnesota Education Fund. The League of Women Voters does not support or oppose any political party or candidate for office.
