My guiding principles are “Connect, Include, Sustain.” That represents how I engage with those who live, work, and do business in Eagan, and my priorities in office. Eagan has advanced each of these priorities in the last three years. We’ve hired a sustainability coordinator, who has now begun developing a climate action plan. We’ve embarked on an ambitious DEI initiative, which is now entering its next phase. And we have begun building a new Art House which will become a creative connector for our whole region. It took a collaborative effort of council, staff, and community input to make these projects finally happen. But when a candidate articulates their priorities and they resonate with voters, that can be a catalyst for progress.
First, I’d like to see the Climate Action Plan, DEI efforts, and Art House projects through to completion. And, as Eagan will soon be transformed by several large redevelopment projects, I want to be sure that what is built represents the types of jobs, industry, and housing compatible with the current character of our community, responsive to our community’s evolving future needs, and that keeps Eagan in a leadership position among our peer cities.
I have made engagement with every community in Eagan a priority during my first term as a council member and I will continue to do so. Some of the ways I do this are: • Mailing a welcome postcard to every new resident of Eagan each. Many of those families are from more diverse communities. • Supporting Eagan’s DEI efforts by hiring of a consultant to analyze how Eagan’s internal processes can be more equitable. • Recruiting among diverse communities to apply for city advisory commissions.
Making myself available at Chamber of Commerce events, Rotary meetings, by volunteering at local nonprofits, and attending community events like MarketFest is how I’ve found I can best connect with people in the community and respond to their questions and concerns or elevate them to city staff for action.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
