Nicollet County Commissioner District 4

County commissioners are the county s key policymakers. They oversee the administration of the county, set county budget, and participate in county long-range planning. County services that they oversee include a wide variety of social service and welfare programs, as well as certain public health programs. My primary goal is ongoing conservative fiscal stewardship of citizens dollars while ensuring the effective operation of county government. The Commissioner role is to provide citizens with safe well maintained infrastructure, e.g. roads, bridges and ditches, effective public safety through the sheriff's and public works departments, as well efficient administration of the county's safety net programs for public health, Medicaid, mental health and drug awareness. I also want to ensure that we have the best working environment and resources for our county employees so they can serve our citizens and their needs to the best of our ability.
Our Property & Public Services Department administers all elections. We have reviewed & tested the the rigorous ballot counting process with built in checks and balances to ensure accurate counts. This department also trains all election judges to assure the polls are well organized and efficiently run on election day. Post election their is a representative canvassing board that verifies the results. Having witnessed this process, I am confident we will have a safe and secure election.
There is a growing need for additional mental health services across all jurisdictions. The greatest need is finding appropriate resources to address the variety of issues our citizens present with. We have worked hard to secure access to those needs, but beds remain in short supply. We have met with our legislators lobbying for additional resources for this need. Our staff is also creative in their application of available resources and programs to effectively care for those in need.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
