I am proud to serve as a current board member and seek re-election. I welcome the opportunity to continue creating connections and opportunities for our students and staff while being good financial stewards to our district. Our ability to meet the needs of our students, staff and the communities we serve will be tested over the next few years with a state-wide decline in enrollments. As a board, we will need to serve with purpose and vision, while diligently planning to remain financially sound without compromising our student's opportunities for high level education. I will continue to be a sounding board for reason and responsibility and work diligently to ensure we meet our strategic commitments to the district.
Being sure our strategic commitments are met is my top priority. Our district's strategic commitments are: Communications. Financial Stewardship. Learner Outcomes. Profile of a Graduate. All Means All. People and Partnerships. Each of these commitments are essential to maintaining a healthy and thriving district.
We need to leverage all funding sources and push for state and federal dollars to pay for the unfunded mandates impacting our district. Our declining enrollment requires us to evaluate our financial position frequently. We need to plan thoughtfully and stay nimble enough to make adjustments to our spending. Saying goodbye to quality staff, highly desired programs and other cuts, is never taken lightly and when required, needs to be done with the least amount of disruption to student learning.
I would like our district to continue to be the school of choice for the communities we serve and the surrounding areas. A district known for our strong classroom rigor, expansive opportunities and a safe and supportive environment for our students, staff and families. Where All Means All, is not a catchphrase, but rather a duty that we ensure each student has the opportunities and support needed to learn, grow and thrive in our district.
As a board member, I believe it is most important to work collaboratively with key stakeholders on the needs of the district. Our Teaching & Learning Advisory committee is a great example. Designed to involve students, parents or guardians and community members in decisions regarding implementation of the Minnesota Academic Standards and high academic achievement for all students. This group has proven to be a true collaborative effort as we review and provide feedback on curriculum needs.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
