I'm running for City Council because Gilbert deserves better. I'm done sitting on the sidelines watching mistakes, disregard of citizen voices, discouraging voters from participating in government.

I began regularly attending City Council meetings in the summer of 2020. I've experienced unnecessary obstacles and slow responses from the city. I'm frustrated with high taxes and city fees that hurt both residents and business.

I've grown more and more disappointed with the decisions being made and the lack of accountability. It's time we had a majority of representatives on the City Council who are committed to working for the people of Gilbert.
Gilbert is one of the highest taxed cities on the Iron Range. We need structural change to reduce taxes and fees. We need to cut city spending and find new funding sources.

We need to re-build community ownership; we need to keep residents updated and be accountable to one another at all levels.

Main Street storefronts remain shuttered from decades of unfriendly business environment. We need an action plan to attract businesses and work with them to remove the hurdles that keep them away.
I know the rich history of the people and our town. More than 20 years working in the travel industry helped me learn about people with different lived experiences. I’ve come to appreciate one simple fact – that each person deserves dignity and respect. As the Executive Director of Range Iron Pride, I bring my differences with me to each and every conversation. We need to realize that understanding and celebrating our differences is our strength, not our liability.
We need to go above and beyond when we communicate with voters. We need to track our progress on citizen issues and let people see the status of them. Everyone should have easy, accurate and quick access to city public information. Taxpayers and utility customers should have the ability to receive copies of city meeting agendas via email. Meeting notices should be published on the city bulletin boards, website and be available via email. Doing the bare minimum to communicate isn’t acceptable.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
