Minnesota State House District 31B

The lower chamber of the Minnesota legislature has two representatives per senate district for a total of 134.Representatives are elected every two years. They write and vote on legislation to create, repeal, or change state laws affecting many issues, like health care, the environment, and the economy. They also vote on state taxes and the state spending. What your state legislature does affects many facets of your life—the taxes you pay, the highways on which you drive, public schools, the state-supported colleges and universities you or your children might attend, the state parks that provide recreation for you and your family, social programs, and funding for the judicial system.A candidate forum for this race is available at https://youtu.be/uWri8hizghg. 1. Community Safety: Strengthen partnerships with law enforcement, invest in mental health services, and support prevention programs to keep our neighborhoods safe.

2. Quality Education: Ensure every child has access to high-quality education by supporting teachers, funding schools, and expanding STEM and vocational training to prepare students for the future.

3. Supporting Working Families: Promote policies for affordable childcare, small business support, and housing solutions to create economic stability and opportunities for every family in our community.
To support a vibrant economy and address inflation, I’ll focus on providing incentives for creating jobs in our district, such as tax breaks and grants for businesses that hire locally. I’ll also invest in workforce development through job training and apprenticeship programs to prepare workers for high-demand industries. Additionally, I’ll support policies to lower costs for essential goods and services, tackle supply chain disruptions, and promote energy efficiency to ease financial burdens.
I would support legislation that promotes equal opportunities for all Minnesotans by focusing on education, job training, and economic empowerment. This includes investing in schools to ensure every child has access to a quality education, expanding career pathways for underserved communities, and providing resources for small business growth. My goal is to uplift everyone through policies that promote hard work, fairness, and the opportunity to thrive regardless of background.
I would back legislation that advances renewable energy, invests in green technology, and promotes conservation. This includes increasing incentives for solar and wind power, modernizing infrastructure for energy efficiency, and safeguarding our natural resources. These efforts will address climate change, create jobs, and ensure Minnesota leads in environmental responsibility while balancing economic growth with sustainable practices.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
