Minnesota State House District 41B

The lower chamber of the Minnesota legislature has two representatives per senate district for a total of 134.Representatives are elected every two years. They write and vote on legislation to create, repeal, or change state laws affecting many issues, like health care, the environment, and the economy. They also vote on state taxes and the state spending. What your state legislature does affects many facets of your life—the taxes you pay, the highways on which you drive, public schools, the state-supported colleges and universities you or your children might attend, the state parks that provide recreation for you and your family, social programs, and funding for the judicial system.A candidate forum for this race is available at https://youtu.be/0OIXNx8AML8. My first priority will be to reduce taxes and out-of-control spending in St. Paul. My second priority will be to cut burdensome regulations on businesses. My third priority will focus our state on education excellence.
We must make Minnesota competitive again by empowering families and business owners alike. The state budget was increased 40% in one session, but Minnesotans did not see a 40% increase in their income. Instead, rising taxes and costs have stifled our economy and hurt our community. The Minnesota budget must be lowered.
I will work for a tax-credit based school choice policy. Students should not be forced to attend a school based on their zip code alone. School choice has proven to be successful for students of color who do not have access to quality education. Creating a competitive education environment will improve education and opportunities for students from all walks of life.
I will move to lift the moratorium on nuclear power in Minnesota. Because nuclear power has proven to be a safe, clean and a powerful form of energy, it will be an ideal alternative to other forms of power that are less efficient.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.

VOTE411 is brought to you by the League of Women Voters Education Fund and League of Women Voters of Minnesota Education Fund. The League of Women Voters does not support or oppose any political party or candidate for office.
