Being active and involved in one's surroundings allows for an informed view of a community. I learned quite a bit about the workings of government in the last few years. Attending City, County, and State meetings; volunteering with the Water Conservation District and several Non-Profits-Yellow Ribbon Alliance, Wild Rivers Conservancy, SOKOLMN, and others-has opened my eyes to so many compassionate, altruistic, and concerned individuals. That is what we need in city government. I am one of those people. I am not afraid of hard work or to ask questions. As a former Councilmember, residents felt comfortable asking me questions or voicing their concerns. That was my job. I look forward to continuing that path if I am elected by LSCB residents.
1 An important goal is to fiscally plan forward. There are opportunities for grants to fund necessary projects relieving the burden on the taxpayers. 2 Community involvement is always a challenge. Creating fun activities fostering relationships is the goal. Knowing your neighbor will help you advocate for them, and they you. 3 The St. Croix River is our backyard. Preserving the sanctity of the National Scenic Riverway needs planning, and collaboration with county/state/federal & nonprofits,
Conversations. The only way to know what people are thinking is to talk to them. Everyone has ideas as how to fix things. Understanding the concerns and facilitating collaboration hopefully will bring about the needed result.
Asking questions is something I am always doing. I love to have a lot of information so I can make educated decisions. Attending meetings is much different than reading a summary of the meeting. If the author skimps on the words, sometimes you may not get the correct context. Meeting minutes and documentation is extremely important to share with the public. The Council is the most significant entity in our City. Elected officials are there to protect and serve all residents equally.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
