I’m the best candidate for this position because I have more than 20 years experience in infrastructure planning, design and maintenance which allows me to oversee core City functions. I am a good listener, which allows me to hear many different opinions and voices and bring that information to City policy decisions. I am able to compromise and work with the rest of our Council to find solutions that will benefit our residents and I am budget conscious and understand that a City must operate with moderation and good planning.
1. Ensure the continuation of excellent City Services - Plan for and maintain the City’s roads, sewers, water supply, green spaces and safety services. 2. Promote an excellent workplace culture within City Hall, so that we can attract and retain professional and skilled staff and ensure that we retain institutional knowledge as staff retire. 3. Proactively plan and budget for necessary infrastructure equipment and maintenance so that we have the tools we need to keep the City running smoothly.
I make it a priority to make myself available to connect with residents by phone, text or email. If elected, I hope to implement a “Coffee with the Council” day bi-monthly to connect with residents outside council chambers. I believe that as our neighborhood changes, I will need to explore different , more creative ways to engage with our residents. This could include using digital media, publishing City information in different languages.
If elected, I will continue to advocate for creativity in reaching all of our residents. We currently use public engagement meetings, online surveys, statutory notifications (mailings and local newspaper ads), public hearings, facebook, quarterly newsletters, informational flyers in our water bills, information on our park boards and information to on public electronic billboard, and our City website, but there is always room for improvement.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
