As a fourth generation farmer, small business owner, and father of seven, it is an honor to serve my neighbors in Congress. Washington, D.C., sorely needs some Midwestern common sense, and a representative who will defend our way of life and leave our backyard better for the next generation.

If reelected, I will remain laser-focused on investigating, prosecuting, and preventing fraud in taxpayer-funded programs to stop the theft of Minnesotans’ hard-earned dollars; cutting taxes and burdensome regulations on families, farmers, and small businesses; and keeping our communities safe by supporting immigration enforcement and the removal of criminal illegal immigrants from our country.
Costs are too high, and affordability will remain a top priority. Unnecessary taxes and regulations cripple our economy. I proudly supported the Working Families Tax Cut, saving families and small businesses an average of $3,500 annually, including No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, and a $6,000 Social Security deduction. I’ll also continue to support domestic energy like E15 to reduce foreign energy dependence, lower prices at the pump, and support farmers and rural communities.
Agriculture is the backbone of southern Minnesota’s economy, and our farmers are the original environmentalists, working every day to improve their soil and water resources and ensure their operations can thrive for generations. I supported historic increases in funding for locally led conservation programs and will continue advancing voluntary, farmer-led conservation efforts that strengthen our environment, protect our natural resources, and support the long-term success of rural America.
In Minnesota, under the failed leadership of Governor Walz, fraudsters stole $9 billion meant to feed hungry children, help low-income adults including veterans afford housing, and provide affordable child care. These are noble programs funded by hardworking American taxpayers, and every dollar stolen is a dollar that didn’t reach a neighbor in need. In Congress, I will continue fighting to eliminate fraud, protect taxpayer dollars, and restore integrity and confidence in our social safety net.
Governor Walz’s “Driver’s Licenses for All” and vouching system have undermined Minnesotans' confidence in our elections. Every eligible voter deserves confidence that their vote will be counted and our elections are secure. I support ensuring only eligible citizens vote, accurate voter rolls, and voter ID. States receiving federal election funds should provide records verifying election integrity and accurate voter rolls. We must protect the right to vote and integrity of every lawful vote.
I am honored to sit in southern Minnesotans' seat in Congress. This seat does not belong to a politician or a party; it belongs to you. I see my responsibility as being a workhorse, not a show horse: listening to southern Minnesotans, fighting for our priorities, and delivering results. I will continue standing up for our values and way of life while keeping my moral compass on Heaven, not Congress.
Minnesotans deserve a federal judiciary that applies the law as written, rather than injecting their personal or political biases. We must also ensure judges are holding criminals accountable. Through the House appropriations process, I have supported funding for the U.S. Department of Justice's new National Fraud Enforcement Division. This funding will support the hiring of additional attorneys and boost data analytics to prosecute large-scale fraud against federally funded programs.

I'm a math teacher, and I'm running because Washington's math doesn't add up for southern Minnesota. My priorities are the same three things I hear from folks at every town hall. First, bring down costs. That includes ending the blanket tariffs that are squeezing our families, farmers, and small businesses. Second, take on corruption. That includes banning congressional stock trading, passing term limits, and getting corporate money out of politics. And third, invest in our small towns. That includes passing a bipartisan farm bill, undoing cuts to rural healthcare, and supporting investments in water treatment plants. I want my students, and every kid in southern Minnesota, to have a shot at the American Dream like I did.
My wife and I are raising four boys on the salaries of a teacher and a paraprofessional, so the affordability crisis is actually real for us. And everywhere I go, folks tell me the same thing: everything costs too much. I'd start by ending the blanket tariffs that are costing families more than $1,700 a year and costing our farmers their export markets. I’ll take on the insurance and drug companies driving up healthcare costs. And I’ll get serious about the skyrocketing national debt.
My campaign is endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters. I believe we need to bring down utility bills for families, and clean energy is often a really good way to do that. I’d support investments to bring those cheaper sources of energy online. I also support cutting red tape to make it easier to build wind turbines, which not only increases contributions to clean energy but also adds value to farms. I also believe conservation programs for our farmers should be fully funded.
This one is personal. I grew up in Stewartville with ten siblings, the son of a garbage collector and a meter reader. Food stamps helped my parents keep food on our table, medical assistance helped us have healthcare, Habitat for Humanity gave my mother a new house after the bank foreclosed on hers after my stepdad passed away, and a good public education gave me the tools to work hard and succeed. In Congress, I'll undo cuts to SNAP and Medicaid, invest in rural healthcare, and build new homes.
I'd overturn Citizens United, ban congressional stock trading, and give the FEC real teeth. I've run my campaign that way, taking $0 from corporate PACs. I'll also protect every eligible American's freedom to vote, no matter their party, and make sure voting works for rural communities, seniors, and veterans.
The job is simple: show up, listen, and solve problems. That's why I'm holding 21 town halls, one in every county, with unscreened, unfiltered questions, and why I've pledged 21 more for every term I serve. Our congressman hasn't held one in four years. If you hire me, constituent services will be a top priority, and I’ll actually work to solve problems for you. You'll never have to play hide and seek to find me.
I'd start with basic accountability and transparency. Supreme Court justices should follow an enforceable code of ethics, including full disclosure of gifts and travel. Nobody should get rich off public service. I've pledged to ban stock trading for top officials, and the courts shouldn't be an exception. I'll always stand up to corruption in government, no matter which party or politician is responsible for it. I also support term limits for both Congress and the Supreme Court.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.

VOTE411 is brought to you by the League of Women Voters Education Fund and League of Women Voters of Minnesota Education Fund. The League of Women Voters does not support or oppose any political party or candidate for office.
