As a doctor who cared for Minnesotans for over 20 years and the first and only pro-choice OB-GYN to serve in Congress, I know firsthand how important it is that healthcare is affordable and accessible.

We also need to ensure that families are able to afford their lives. Minnesotans are facing a cost-of-living crisis. That’s why we need to end the war in Iran that has driven up the price of fuel, groceries, and everyday goods.

Lastly, I believe we need to put a check on President Trump’s power. We are seeing unfathomable levels of corruption and self-enrichment in the White House and across this administration while millions of Americans are losing their healthcare and children and seniors are having food assistance stripped away.
The cost-of-living crisis is out of control. Congress should be doing everything it can to lower costs and build an economy that works for everyone: lowering the costs of healthcare, housing, and child care, while investing in innovation, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship. I’ve voted to end the war in Iran, which would bring down the price of gas and groceries. As a member of the Small Business Committee, I’m fighting to exempt small businesses from the President’s costly and chaotic tariffs.
As we see more wildfires, floods and other extreme weather wreak havoc on homes and businesses, we need to take swift action to tackle climate change and plan mitigation strategies. This will not only help avert catastrophic warming – it will also create good, clean energy jobs. I was proud to lead more than thirty of my colleagues in ringing the alarm bell about an EPA proposal that would allow millions of pounds of toxic pollutants into our waterways.
I strongly oppose President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” which made the single largest cut to healthcare and food assistance in our nation's history. We need to protect Medicare and Medicaid, strengthen the Affordable Care Act to bring down the cost of insurance premiums, and reverse the President’s SNAP cuts which have already taken food assistance away from 1.5 million children.
I believe it’s time to put the voters back at the center of the decision-making process. Minnesota has worked hard to expand voting access and remove barriers to voting. I’ll continue to work hard to expand voting rights at the federal level. I believe that leaders should serve the people they represent – not special interest groups. That’s why I’m proud not to take any contributions from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists, and am committed to getting dark money out of politics.
I first ran for office after Trump’s first election because I believe all Minnesotans deserve to be healthy and thrive. As a doctor and a Congresswoman, I’m fighting to make healthcare more affordable, protect our air and water, and bring down the cost of living. We also need to put a check on President Trump’s continued abuse of taxpayer dollars to enrich himself and his family. The chaos and corruption of this administration is worsening the cost-of-living crisis Minnesotans are facing.
I’m very concerned by the Trump Administration’s politicization of the Department of Justice. Nobody, including the President, is above the law. But Donald Trump has treated the DOJ as his own personal lawyers. I was disturbed by the DOJ settlement that created a $1.8 billion slush fund to distribute taxpayer money to the President’s political allies. Although the DOJ says it walked back this proposal, I’ll continue to conduct rigorous oversight to ensure that it does not reverse course.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
