I hear a lot from constituents about the horrible fraud in Minnesota. I am working to stop it, prosecute the responsible parties, and prevent the theft of taxpayer dollars. I am also working to get the Farm Bill and year-round E-15 over the finish line. We have passed many helpful policies for farmers, including crop insurance reforms, but the Farm Bill and E-15 are important parts to finish. Finally I want to continue working on trade and bio-based manufacturing to make sure we have strong markets domestically and internationally.
I am working and will continue to work to foster strong rural communities and a strong agriculture industry. First, by helping rural communities obtain the things they need like infrastructure and housing. Secondly, by providing farmers the policy tools they need to produce and make a profit. Rural communities and farmers rely on each other for success, so both are important for a strong, rural economy.
We have affordable and abundant resources to lower greenhouse gas emissions in our biofuels industry. I am a member of the Congressional Biofuels Caucus, a bipartisan group that advances policies to support this industry. From conventional gasoline to sustainable aviation fuel, these products can be produced here, creating jobs in rural western Minnesota while achieving significant reductions in emissions.
The federal government currently provides a wide range of assistance programs. To ensure that the social safety net remains accessible to people truly in need, we must continue cracking down on fraud to ensure those taxpayer dollars are having the intended, positive impact on people’s lives instead of being diverted to fraudsters and cheaters.
I support Voter ID and provisional balloting in order to make it easy to vote, but hard to cheat.
As a public servant, I am the voice and advocate for the values, concerns, and priorities of the people I represent. My duty to my constituents is my top priority, so I am in DC for committee meetings and votes, doing the job I was elected to do. In my six years of service, I have only missed nine roll call votes out of almost 3,000 cast. I enjoy spending as much time in the district as the busy DC schedule allows so I can hear first-hand from constituents.
Unlike the Democrat Socialists of America, I believe we should keep the Supreme Court of the United States, not abolish it or increase the number of Justices beyond the current nine.

Our top priority will be defending the Constitution; too many of our rights are being threatened in real time. We are running to restore the system of checks and balances and three equal branches of government.

Second, we will fight to get corporate money out of politics and overturn Citizens United. Money in politics continues to be a barrier to progress in far too many areas. Our elections shouldn’t be auctions and elected officials should be beholden to the people, not corporate donors.

Third, we will stand up for our rural economies. That includes expanding healthcare access and affordability, especially in rural communities, fighting for family farms, and protecting and expanding funding for public education.
Healthcare, education and agriculture make up a large part of our economies here in CD7 and are critical to the economic health of our district. We need to invest in local projects in these areas because public investment leads to public good.

We need to stop corporate monopolies that reduce competition and drive up costs.

Congress is supposed to control the purse, not the executive branch. Reckless tariffs don't work and have led to much of the inflation we’re currently experiencing.
We need to put the planet over profits. In CD7, farmers feel climate impacts: changing weather, soil health, and access to clean water. Good stewardship is survival and we owe it to future generations to take a multi-generational approach to protecting our environment. We'll incentivize climate-smart agriculture and rural renewable energy. Protect pristine places like the BWCA from corporate exploitation.

Congress must act with urgency. We can both grow our economy and protect our environment.
A society is judged on how it treats the elderly, children, the sick, and people with disabilities. We're failing.

Healthcare is a human right and we have a responsibility to make it accessible and affordable for all. Education is the great equalizer. Food and housing are foundations.

In CD-7, Social Security, Medicaid, and veterans benefits are essential. We need to expand them, not gut them.

Public investment in education, healthcare, housing, and child care builds opportunity.
We need to get corporate money out of politics. Citizens United is corrupting our government. We need a constitutional amendment.

Voting access matters. Rural voters face barriers, distance, and limited polling places. We need to expand early voting, mail-in options and same-day registration.

Election security and voter access aren't enemies. We can secure elections while making voting easier. Accessibility & responsiveness create accountability. That's how we restore trust in self-government.
I’m running for Congress to defend the constitution, restore checks balances, and represent those I seek to serve.

My responsibility is to be beholden to the people, not corporate donors looking to buy influence. I'm not a career politician. I'm a working-class problem solver who listens to neighbors. I’ve traveled over 36,000 miles across our 38 counties on this campaign.

I'll be intentional about how I communicate and work to bring back decency and empathy back to our political discourse.
Our courts should be accessible to all people, not just the wealthy. Corporate interests shouldn't dominate the judicial system. Our Supreme Court Justices should not be able to receive gifts & full disclosure should be required. Our Department of Justice should also serve the people and not the executive branch. Judges should interpret the Constitution faithfully and defend self-government and protect rights for all. We need due process, accountability & equal justice. That's how we do better.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
