I am a parent, public servant, and current school board member who cares deeply about serving our community and meeting the unique needs of every student. Since 2020, I have served on the Osseo Area School Board, committing to thoroughly consider every decision in a way that best meets the needs of all students and reflects the diverse perspectives of our large school community. As a board member, I value student, family, staff, and community input in decision-making, and I hold the district accountable for the academic success we all expect from Osseo Area Schools. Maintaining a positive culture that centers the needs and successes of students and staff has been a primary goal of my time on the board.
In addition to maintaining and elevating what the district already does well, I want to focus on safe, welcoming schools, individualized pathways, and student and family voice. Safe and welcoming means students feel a sense of belonging while our technology and processes keep them safe in the district's care. Individualized pathways means moving beyond one-size-fits-all to prepare each student for their unique dreams. And elevating student and family voice ensures they're heard alongside staff.
If forced to cut the budget due to declining or uncertain revenue, my strategy would be to stay grounded in our mission, values, and strategic goals—engaging staff, students, and families as we tighten or pause spending in areas that don't directly or significantly impact students' day-to-day learning experiences. This prioritization work should start now, proactively, so we stay prepared amid the uncertainty facing public education, not just in Minnesota, but across the country.
To address racial and economic disparities, it's important to stay grounded in disaggregated data—both collecting what's available and investing the time and resources to gather more. Alongside quantitative data, we must center the personal experiences and challenges of our culturally diverse students and families navigating learning in and out of the classroom. While there's only so much we can do to mitigate economic hardship, passionate, well-resourced educators and community support can move
Educator, family, and student engagement is deeply important to me and an ongoing priority in my work as a school board member. Beyond district committees and student board representatives, I encourage leveraging every tool available to share information and collect staff and community feedback in ways that are accessible and convenient for busy families. A strong example is the engagement around recent boundary changes—feedback that had a significant, positive impact on the final implementation

Public schools changed the course of my life, and I offer a combination of K–12 experience, technical problem-solving and preparation for board service. I spent eight years in K–12 education, working onsite with public school districts across the country on student information systems and state and federal reporting, including time at Wayzata Public Schools. Today, as a software engineer, I turn complex problems into practical action by asking clear questions, weighing evidence and explaining tradeoffs. Since 2024, I have regularly attended Osseo board meetings and studied budgets, policies and student data. I’m prepared to keep classroom reality at the center of every decision.
My top priorities are academic excellence, supported educators and safe, welcoming schools. Scholars need strong reading, math and a well-rounded education that prepares them for what comes next. Educators need the time, tools, voice and sustainable support to do their best work. Students learn best when schools are safe, orderly, inclusive and responsive to academic and mental health needs.
Osseo’s current budget shows a structural gap, but we still have time to act deliberately. I would protect classroom instruction and student services first. I would then review administrative and operational spending, contracts, underused programs, enrollment assumptions and new initiatives. Any cuts should be transparent, with the effects on class size, staffing and student outcomes clearly explained.
I would start with disaggregated data by race, income, disability and language to identify gaps in achievement, attendance, discipline and access to opportunity. From there, I would target support based on evidence, including early intervention, fair and consistent expectations, accessible family communication, and fewer barriers to advanced courses, career pathways and student services. The board should review progress publicly and adjust when strategies are not closing gaps.
Teachers and families should be involved before major decisions are effectively made, not after the fact. I would seek educator input on instruction, workload and school climate. I would give families clear, accessible information about budgets, policies and student progress, and use surveys, listening sessions and public forums to hear from people across the district. I would also explain how that input shaped the final decision.

I am a 24-year district resident of Brooklyn Park and Maple Grove, a district parent, and an active community volunteer. I have served on the Osseo School Board for 8 years, most recently as Chair for the past two years. As a servant-leader, active in local community service groups such as Rotary and Lions, I understand that my job is to truly serve. This leadership philosophy has led our board and district leadership to work collaboratively with a student-centered approach. During my time on the board, I’ve prioritized hiring exceptional leaders, expanded career and technical education courses, invested in core curriculum and instructional professional development, and exercised strong fiscal oversight.
My top three priorities will be student outcomes, district finances, and engagement with educators and the community. I will support redirecting resources to curriculum, instructional professional development, student behavior support, and attendance initiatives to improve outcomes. I will continue to direct district work to achieve a balanced budget and maintain our strong financial processes. I will further expectations for educator and community input that leadership takes action on.
Our district has a strong fund balance, but rising inflation is making it harder to maintain a balanced operating budget. Under the current plan I support, we will slowly draw down our large fund balance while implementing long-term operating efficiencies. We will eliminate redundancy and initiatives that do not produce outcomes for students, and we will protect classroom funding. The current local tax levy includes inflation, so I will not recommend further increases.
I participated in and am supporting our Superintendent's current initiative to eliminate barriers to achievement. We are now systematically identifying barriers at every level of the organization and escalating them to leadership for action. The board will regularly review progress, including attendance and student support initiatives. Additionally, the entire board sets a clear direction: we will not tolerate funding inequity across sites.I am confident that our leadership is carrying this out.
As board chair, I have made this a key priority over the past two years. We changed our engagement model last year, inviting input and creating action steps based on it. This year, we are focused on going out into the community rather than asking the community to come to us. I am also advancing a new external climate survey approach that helps teachers provide input confidently and creates transparency. The board and I have also set direction for teacher input on key district decisions.
I bring my experience as a parent in the district, a volunteer and my professional work experience. I understand the needs across the district. My corporate voice of customer experience sets me apart. I know how to listen to stakeholder needs and turn them into clear, actionable plans. Whether supporting large initiatives or navigating detailed challenges, I focus on listening, aligning stakeholders, and creating pathways that move organizations forward.
My priorities include preparing scholars for the future to provide scholars with a strong foundation in core skills and emerging technologies so they graduate ready for the real world. I would support educators to ensure teachers have resources, respect, and a voice. A safe and welcoming environment is non-negotiable to create schools where every scholar feels secure, valued, and able to learn.
We are often expected to do more with less. If budget cuts were necessary, my strategy would be to prioritize students and educators first by focusing on protecting classroom learning and teacher support. Then I would carefully review administrative and non‑instructional spending to find efficiencies.
Addressing racial and economic disparities starts with listening to those most affected and using data to identify gaps. I support policies that ensure equitable access to resources, strong instruction, and safe, welcoming schools for all students. By centering students and educators and removing barriers to opportunity, we help every scholar thrive.
This is a specific area where my voice of customer experience will be valuable. I will engage with teachers and families by listening to those who are directly impacted by decisions. Their feedback, experiences, and concerns will help shape my understanding and guide my choices. By creating open and consistent opportunities for input, I will focus on decisions that reflect real classroom needs and family perspectives.
