I believe I am a strong candidate for this position because I bring a combination of professional experience, community involvement, and a genuine commitment to students and families. My background in Human Resources has taught me the importance of listening, communication, accountability, collaboration, and making thoughtful decisions that consider different perspectives. As a parent, I understand how deeply families care about their children’s education, safety, opportunities, and future. I would bring an open mind, a willingness to listen, and a commitment to representing our community—not just my own views. I want to help create an environment where students, families, teachers, and staff feel heard, supported, respected, and valued.
Student Success & Well-Being — Ensure students have the support, resources, and safe environment they need to thrive. Strong Communication & Trust — Improve communication between the district, families, staff, and community so people feel heard and informed. Supporting Teachers & Staff — Invest in the people who work directly with our students by listening to their needs and fostering a positive, respectful workplace.
I would approach budget cuts carefully and thoughtfully, focusing on what is most important to our students, staff, and community. I would look at the overall budget, consider different perspectives, and prioritize responsible decisions that balance immediate needs with the long-term health of the district. Transparency, communication, and collaboration would be important throughout the process.
I would focus on making sure every student has access to the support, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances. I believe in listening to students, families, and staff, recognizing where gaps exist, and working collaboratively to find practical solutions. Every child deserves to feel supported, included, and valued.
I believe good decisions start with listening. I would make an effort to hear directly from teachers, families, and staff through open communication, conversations, and opportunities for feedback. I would consider those perspectives alongside the information available to the board and work toward decisions that reflect the needs of the school community. I want people to feel heard, respected, and included.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.

VOTE411 is brought to you by the League of Women Voters Education Fund and League of Women Voters of Minnesota Education Fund. The League of Women Voters does not support or oppose any political party or candidate for office.
