Dennison City Mayor

The mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. They also can preside at council meetings and appoint city workers. I have led the Dennison City Council for the past 12 years. With the help of the council, we have made strides in updating our city ordinances, building and fixing infrastructure and encouraging growth to continue within the city limits.
1.) Build a new wellhouse and deal with the water quality issues. 2. Sewer pond expansion, thereby allowing for future growth of the city and tax base. 3.) Address the safety concerns at the intersection of Goodhue County Road 9, Goodhue Avenue and 1st Avenue Ct. Work with the County to make these improvements within the next five years.
We will continue to post information relevant to the community on our city website, Facebook community page and city board, as well as posting information at the Post Office. I will continue to write the agenda as a way to talk directly to the citizens in town and give them more insight/clarity on issues. I will expect my city council to lead by example, to hold themselves accountable, as they expect me to do the same.
People in town can always call me, send an email or visit with me in-person or at City Hall. If an issue is important to a citizen, then the ability to express their concerns or opinions is important and valued.
I take public safety seriously, and I want people to know the city council is working to keep the community safe. We are in the final stages of passing Ordinance 90, which will address Firearms within the City Limits. The unsafe intersection on County Road 9 will be a high priority, too. I will expect Goodhue County to keep an eye on speeders traveling through town. With the improvements planned for that particular intersection, families/children/citizens will feel safer and more connected.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.
