I am completing my first term as a council member. I have invested 4 years in learning, listening, and working with different public and private individuals to understand how we can make the city of Eden Valley a great place to live and do business. I am vested in the community and want to do better by listening to residents more and providing feedback to them. I have successfully lead diverse groups of people to achieve their goals and to thrive. My non-partisan approach to leadership has allowed me to see and harness the best in every situation, and in every person who makes suggestions on how to do and be better. I show up for Eden Valley every year by attending legislative sessions and working with elected leaders from both parties.
I will commit to civility in our interactions with each other and with residents by humanizing public discourse. I signed the Civility Pledge. Meet frequently with business owners to discuss strategies for marketing and promoting local businesses. Make the city more welcoming and inviting. Build a strong, well-informed team that would be well-equipped to serve the community. Work with inter-faith groups and community leaders to create a stronger community that listens to and supports each other.
Create accountability systems – make information available to residents, proactively and when they ask for it. Seek information and use it. Invite public input where necessary so that residents are aware of projects and priorities of the city. Respond to questions to the best of my ability. Encourage fellow leaders to follow the guidelines that are already available to inform our decisions, actions, and interactions as we govern. Get and use input from city staff who are a great resource.
I will encourage the use of surveys and public forums as often as necessary, based on on-going or new projects, issues, and concerns that may need to be hushed out before final decisions are made. Give honest feedback using all possible ways when residents participate. Although the city has a Comprehensive Plan, I would encourage residents to bring suggestions forward that may be more relevant to current circumstances, and that can support the kind of future residents envision for the city.
Working as the Police Commissioner for the city for the past couple of years has allowed me to step back and review the role of public safety through a new lens. I understand and acknowledge the challenges. I will continue to build on on-going open communication with residents and the Deputies, get feedback on issues of concern, then ensure residents know that they are protected and can bring up issues or concerns at any time. I will always seek to find the balance by involving all concerned.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
