Edina City Council Member {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

As local legislators who sometimes have executive power, council members can propose ordinances, set administrative policy, and authorize the budget proposed by the mayor. They oversee all city activities, including city services, programs, licensing, and public safety. I have experience in, and a passion for, helping make Edina a great place to live. Before serving on City Council, I served as Chair of Edina’s Planning Commission. Professionally, I am a technology leader with more than 15 years of experience building and leading teams. During my first term, I worked to strengthen public safety, invest in infrastructure, expand housing opportunities, advance sustainability initiatives, and support the long-term vitality of our community. Edina is where Joe and I are raising our daughters, so these aren’t abstract decisions; they shape our daily lives and our city’s future. I would be honored to continue serving our community.
1. Strengthening the budget. We must balance financial pressures with the need to invest in aging infrastructure, focus on deferred maintenance, and maintain high-quality services.

2. Investing responsibly in core services. I will continue to support public safety, sidewalks, bike paths, and climate resiliency that will keep Edina great.

3. Planning intentionally for the future. I will support thoughtful growth and practical improvements that keep Edina safe, welcoming, and accessible for all
We don’t set strategy in a vacuum. We have a responsibility to set that strategy alongside residents. I keep an open door and listen with an open mind, looking to understand where we may be missing the mark and adjust where appropriate. I am always open to meeting with residents to discuss matters important to them.
Residents deserve to know how decisions are made and how to participate. One example: After observing friction in the City’s petitioning process, I am working to make it more transparent, accessible, and easier for residents to navigate. I regularly meet with residents to discuss matters important to them. I will continue to make transparent and data-informed decisions, listen and adjust, strengthen communication, and ensure government remains accessible and accountable

I am running for Edina City Council to give back to the community where I have lived for 30 years. I bring 29 years of experience in audit and finance, and I believe in a common-sense approach to city government—one that focuses on public safety, police and fire services, maintaining our roads and infrastructure, and fiscal accountability.

Helping others has always been an important part of my life. I have volunteered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, including two years at a weeklong overnight summer camp for children with muscular dystrophy. I also work for a company that helps children remain at home rather than in hospitals, and I regularly donate blood.

I want to keep Edina the best city in the Twin Cities.

Public Safety: Supporting strong police and fire departments, informed by a recent ride-along with local officers.

Fiscal Responsibility: Carefully examining current spending, keeping property taxes low, and ensuring taxpayer value.

Infrastructure: Maintaining high-quality city roads, parks, and trails.
I believe every Edina resident deserves to be heard and represented, regardless of background, neighborhood, age, or point of view. As a Council member, I will listen to residents, attend community meetings, and make myself available to hear their concerns. I will listen even when people disagree with me and make decisions based on what I believe is best for the entire community. I believe in Edina, and I believe people are good.
Transparency and accountability start with being open with the public. I will support clear communication about city spending, budgets, projects, and decisions, and make sure residents have access to the information they need. With my 29 years of audit and finance experience, I will ask questions, scrutinize spending, and hold government accountable. I believe taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being spent and why decisions are made.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
