I was on the Forest Lake Planning Commission for a year until I couldn’t stand it any longer. I think property owners should do whatever they want if 3 criteria are met: 1) can’t hurt the environment, 2) can’t harm your neighbors, 3) can’t do something unsightly or immoral. Lived in Forest Lake for 22 years and seen the same revolving cycle of wasting taxpayers' money. I majored in Economics at the University of Minnesota. NO EGO, NO POWER TRIP, COMMON SENSE. You could say like Sheriff Andy Taylor of The Andy Griffith Show. (If you are under 50 look it up on YouTube). 4) I support church life in Forest Lake. 5) I would have brought Chik-Fil-A or Raising Cane's to FL instead of cannabis. My slogan: I CHOOSE CHICKEN!
1) Abolish the Planning Commission, replace it with a streamlined process where decisions are made quickly-fairly. 2) Stop wasting money and start earning money. The money the city spent hiring a new city administrator was ridiculous. We’re not New York. Hire a sharp kid right out of college. Let’s make a city that MAKES MONEY to LOWER OUR TAXES. Municipal Liquor stores, start the first city owned Insurance company to provide reasonable Auto and Home insurance to Forest Lake residents.
Ethical conduct is a direct result of leadership. I want a drug free, wholesome, family-oriented community. I would lead by example. Ethical claims would be documented, investigated, and fairly decided by outside neutral parties. No "inside" jobs. The city belongs to its residents; they can question anytime they want. I also want ethical treatment of animals! Forest Lake will do more to support Northwoods Humane Society.
I'm the perfect person for this question. The "Whoop di doos" and "La di dahs" have always had friends in the city government. I'm an "average", laid back guy who will include ALL in having a friend. I'll invite anyone to talk. All city books will be open for public inspection. I'm for having a "city input" website where issues are discussed and have public opinion votes on issues. No more egos in my city government.
Have a “Must Comply” law. When you are pulled over you must put your hands on the steering wheel, answer questions appropriately without abusive language or face very stiff fines. Put up signs as you enter Forest Lake, “Forest Lake, A Must Comply City”. 2) I’d up the enforcement and penalties for selling drugs in our city. 3) I’d have laws enforced against foul language/print where children are present. The students protesting with neon F word signs this year should have been arrested.

The League of Women Voters of Minnesota and North Dakota crafted the questions sent to the candidates in the Spring of 2024. They reached out to candidates based on contact information in their public candidate filings. Candidates with email addresses were invited and reminded with emails. Candidates with only mailing addresses were sent a letter. Candidates with phone numbers received a phone call as well.

Candidate responses are published as they responded and have not been edited, except when responses were longer than the given character limit. In those cases, the responses are truncated.
